TTC After a Loss

Well, hello! *LC Mentioned*

Hi ladies,

I've been lurking since my loss and want to get more involved, so here I am!

Re: Well, hello! *LC Mentioned*

Don't know why it's only taking first 3 lines of my post? Here's the part it cut out. ;)

    Here's my deets: *(loss/LC)*
I'm 30, hubby is 30 as well. We have a 2yr old daughter. I had a vanishing twin with that pregnancy, found at 6 weeks. We started TTC for a sibling in July this year and hit bfp first month. Had issues early on with hcg raising but not by enough and low progesterone. Dr was speculative it might be ectopic based on Hcgs. It ended in a scheduled D&E that showed it was not ectopic at 6.5 weeks (3 weeks ago). We are benched for 1-2 cycles and will ttc again...when AF actually comes back!

    My crazy:
I'm a big reader and after this 2nd loss I've delved into binge reading....everything. I'm starting to think it might be luteal phase defect, or low progesterone, or both. I'm still learning how that works together and trying not to self diagnose. It's hard bc both pregnancies have had low progesterone, but also a loss. So it's- 'what came first, the chicken or the egg'? The levels or the loss. I hope to gleam some knowledge from you ladies.

    Fun stuff:
I'm a big wine lover! Also, an animal lover, have 2 cats. Perpetual student with my MBA on hold and avid reader. I'm an environmentalist at heart!!

Welp, that's way more than you ever wanted to know. If you got this far, thanks! I hope to get to know you ladies too.

  • I am sorry for your losses. I tend to like to self-diagnose, too. We probably all do it at some point. It is hard not to search for a reason.

I am a big wine lover, too. I am supposed to be working toward my second level sommelier certification, but my enthusiasm has waned a bit lately. Anyway, welcome to the board. I hope your stay is short and sweet.

  • Welcome to the board, I'm sorry for your loss. Do you have any follow ups coming up with your Dr? Perhaps you can bring up questions there too. The TTCAL blog also has some good resources. ((Hugs))

@Amybunny30‌ I am going to call to discuss. I don't have a scheduled follow up bc my OB didn't seem concerned about ttc. I'm worried since I've had low progesterone each time!
  • Sorry for your losses and welcome to the board! I hope you get some answers from your OB here soon!

  • Welcome, I'm so sorry for your loss.  I also love to play the self diagnosing game.  I always thought I might have progesterone problems but after my loss I talked with my RE, and she said my prog was beautiful in the beginning and was only low right before my loss.  This indicated to her that the problem was with the pregnancy not with progesterone.  I'm not sure if that helps, it sounds like you did have betas done early on so I imagine they checked your progesterone too.  Did you ask your doc if it was low the whole time or just at the end?

Also, I pretty much love all the things you do, the environment, animals, wine and reading!! :)

I only had progesterone done at the first beta bc we knew I had low progesterone with my first pregnancy. It was 8.7. My OB said I don't need to start supplements at the TWW, just when I get a positive test- but I think I should at the TWW....ugh I don't know!
