1. Which spelling is preferred? Rafael or Raphael?

2. I like the name Ralph but I think it sounds a little too nick namey. Could Ralph be a nick name for Raphael or is it a stretch?

I agree with pp, i prefer the whole name of Raphael, not a big fan of Ralph though, i keep wanting to say raph because of tmnt being out in theaters.

I prefer Raphael. Ralph is NMS, it's a completely different name (meaning and originwise). Then again, it could work as a nn for Raphael, I've seen names and nns that were further stretches

The Italian spelling, Raffaele, is one of my favorite names ever.
