1 iui vs 2 iui's

Hey ladies. Quick question. What's your thought when it comes to b2b iui's?? Since we are OOP for the IUI every penny for the procedure and meds counts for something. If I can get away with just doing one that would be awesome but I'm scared that if I don't do the second one I'll blame myself later. What does your dr think or say?

My clinic recommends b2b because they believe it gives you the best chance of conceiving (their words, not mine).  With my first cycle the timing didn't work out for me to have b2b so we just did one and it was successful.  Many RE's seem to have different opinions on it.  We are out of pocket as well and this cycle we will be doing the b2b iui's (unless there is a last minute change), because our RE recommends it, but I don't know how much it really increases your chances.

My RE said BTB IUIs don't really increase chances that much. I don't know how it can't. I know someone who had mild MFI and got pregnant with BTB. If I had the money, I would do the BTB, it can't hurt.

I have had b2b IUI for two cycles now, the first cycle on day 2 DH's levels weren't great but this second cycle they were almost as good as day 1. I will find out on Thursday if it worked or not. I suppose it's a personal opinion and if you are able to do it then you are slightly increasing your chances. Good luck!!

I did 2 B2B IUIs that resulted in 2 BFN so I don't have anything great to say about B2B

I just asked my RE about this a couple weeks ago because my sister in law did back to back IUIs all 6 times.  My RE doesn't believe it really increases your chances that much (I think they said 5%) and also he said that it is mainly used when sperm count is low.  So we decided against it.

My RE does not do back to back iui's. A girl that I work with goes to a different RE, and she asked if she could do b2b iui's. They told her that they would do it if she wanted to, but that there is no scientific evidence that it works better than 1 iui.

Everything I've read says that B2B IUI barely increases chances (like, maybe a percentage point if that). B2B are done typically at 24hrs and 48 hrs, but research on single IUIs shows that the ideal time is 35hours. Especially since cost is a factor here, I would much prefer a single IUI at the ideal time. That said, if it wasn't working, I'd probably ask the RE if changing the timing or doing B2B might make a difference in my case.
