TTC After a Loss

New Here

Hello,

My name is Katie and I had a molar pregnancy four months ago. We became pregnancy in Feb-14, found out in Apr-14 we miscarried, and found out in May-14 it was a molar pregnancy. I am just starting to point where my husband and I are ready to TTC again. The doctor has advised us to wait six months, but after 4 months of HCG at "0", we may accelerate the process.

The last 4-5 months were excruciating...I have never felt pain like this before, but I am hopeful that we will deliver a beautiful baby soon. I am happy to be here, and I am looking forward to giving and receiving support from you ladies. The last board I joined was extremely helpful during our miscarriage and I know that this will help me through the next journey.

Cheers ladies, and I hope we all have good news soon.

  • I am sorry for your loss. I don't have any advice regarding a molar pregnancy, just a welcome.
  • Hi Katie, I'm new here too.  My doctor suspected a molar pregnancy, but the pathology results came back normal.  In the interim, I did a lot of research.  I'm sure you have too, but if you haven't come across Dr. Donald Goldstein, I thought I'd let you know.  He seems to be one of the leading experts on molar pregnancies.  His suggestion regarding waiting time after a molar is that you should have three consecutive weeks of HCG<5 followed by three consecutive months of HCG<5.  If you google him, you'll find this info.
  • Thank you @brookefiller!!!

I just actually read the pathology report for the first time after switching doctors and to my surprise we had twins and only one was a molar. The other was depleted by the molar. So sad. I've had four months of 0 so we're close!! We may cheat next month.

  • EurydiceNymph. I am so sorry for your recent loss...and for the fact that you needed two d&cs...one is traumatic enough!

I am in constant contact with my doctor, so our baby team is fully aware with our decision, given how quickly my HCG dropped and recent research coming out of Boston. In my case they "think" it was a complete moler, but it's hard to tell given the other twin was healthy, but was depleted. I have one last blood test at the end of September. Hoping for the last 0!

  • EurydiceNymph - One more follow up -

The Chief of Gynocology at Northwestern Hospital in Chicago, IL (where I am a patient) - who is a leading expert in molars as well - echoed that of the Boston center. They have never seen a mole come back once HCG reaches 0. I hope this helps in your journey to wellness and a baby!!!! ((hugs))
