Baby sign language

Along the lines of the 1st words thread, is anyone planning to try (or already trying) Baby Sign Language? Has anyone tried it before and had a good/bad experience? I've been looking at a site about it and have been thinking about maybe giving it a shot. (I'll post the URL if wanted but didn't want this to look like a sales post, since they do offer some paid resources.)

When I taught ages 12-16 months at the daycare I worked at I taught them sign language. The more easier signs and I will do the same for Harper. like " more", " please" , " all done " things ;like that , I found it super easy / helpful .

My sister did it and it helped out a lot. We knew when she was hungry and wanted more. She's 8 now and doesn't remember any of it.

I am doing it with my LO now.

Our DC also teaches it and it starts in the infant room and the next room up. They typically learn (or re-learn) one sign each week. Although they obviously can't use it in the infant room, they like to introduce it early. Since we get daily reports of what they do each day, we just practice at home in our daily routine with DS. They are fairly simple such as Mommy, Daddy, more, all done, milk, etc. We just try to use the word and make the sign as much as we can remember, but we don't make it a huge deal.

We've done milk, all done, more pretty consistently (as much as we remember)
Auntie, mom, dad and now banana have been folded in. I'm stupid excited to see her sign someday.

When DS1 was in daycare we knew they were going to teach them some signs but we didn't know when. One Friday night DS started getting upset with us and we realized he was trying to sign something. He would hold up one hand, then point one finger of the other hand into his palm. We had no idea what he was trying to tell us and spent the weekend trying to figure it out. We asked on Monday and it turns out that his little best friend used that sign for "more". He just copied her! Once we figured that out it was really useful.

I did it (inconsistently) with DS1 starting shortly after birth. Sometime around 12 months he started to use the hungry/food, all done, milk signs.
He still uses all done and says it at the same time. That's the only sign that stuck with him.

I haven't actually started any of it with LO. I'm not gonna stress over it. If I remember to do the occasional sign then yay! And if not, no big deal.

We did sign language with dd and it was so helpful. I really started with dd at 6 months and so am starting with DS now. So far just doing the sign for milk. I found with dd it took until 9 months for her to sign back to us. Curious to see when DS does.

We started with LO #1 at about 6 months - the basics, like milk, more, eat/hungry, all done.  She never  used milk, but she loved to sign more - eat - and all done by about 10 months/one year.  She still uses more and all done even though she also talks dawn to dusk.  We will begin with LO #2 in the coming month, I think it's very worth while.  I plan to add more signs to her vocabulary, you just have to be patient for them to start using them themselves.

We started using a few signs. Like PPs said we're starting with the practical ones: milk, change, sleep, dog, mom, dad, and monkey (his teether - a knock off of Sophie) so far.

I plan to do ASL with LO, but I won't start until he is old enough to actually mimic some of the signs. He can't even get his pacifier in his mouth yet so we've got some time....

We did!  Milk, more, and please were the ones I remember DD using the most.
