REOM

Hey you!

How are you doing? Long time no "talk" I guess. I hope the girls are doing well and things w/ Emi are much better. Adorable siggy.  Not sure what happened w/ my siggy! I'm hardly ever on here.

Random question - how did you check/correct the student's math journals? So many teachers say they either don't correct them at all, or other ones go around right after they do the journal page and mark them in their grade books. Just curious what you do. I do check them, but slack here and there w/ recording it somewhere.

Re: REOM

  • Are you talking about the Everyday math journals/workbooks?

  • Oh yes, sorry! The math boxes.

  • We had a long time for math- almost 2 hours. I would use the last 20 minutes or so for math boxes, and work with 2 groups per day. Work with the 'needier' groups more often. I would check their work for the week while in groups. That way, they coud go back and fix what was needed, or I could explain it again. The other groups could choose a math game from the math center while I finished up with the groups. I don't do a whole lot of whole class instruction.

Embarrassed to admit, but I don't keep a very detailed grade book Embarrassed

  • Thank you Melissa.

I don't have 2 hours, but wish I did. I need it w/ this program! But, on Fridays I do what you do and use it as "Math Game Day" and take the students having trouble w/ the concepts and work w/ them and go over the math boxes (explain it again, have them re-do them). But, my grade book isn't too detailed either.

Thanks for your input. Miss talking to you!
