I just got 8 maternity tops and a pair of comfy drawstring pants from gap for $120, not bad! I've been waiting for a 40% off code so just pulled the trigger once I got it in my email. I really don't think I'll need anything else at this point. I feel kinda bad cause my MIL wanted to go shopping with me but I buy everything online. I haven't found any maternity clothes in person that I like
I just got a big public congratulations from a coworker who I guess had heard I was pregnant, but obviously didn't hear that's not the case anymore so now I'm hiding out, trying to choke back tears at my desk. Fuck today.
@BitsyBelle84 what kind of things do they want you to so with him? I would think you should be able to do a lot if it while he's playing and not need his full attention. We did speech therapy with Owen and it was very play based.
@MauiBliss you totally need an mani/pedi and then a massage while you are there!
@jessuhmarie I was really disappointed too when I had an anterior placenta with Noah. I still started to feel movement around 18w.
And I totally get where everyone is coming from with the ridiculousness of the grocery bag thread. That said, I frequently feel judged for doing so little when I'm pregnant because of the HG. Overdoing it even a little leads to puking and dehydration for me, and movement is a huge trigger so I don't do a lot. Plus I generally lose muscle mass during the HG so it takes a while for me to build up when it finally does let up. So yeah, I know, people have been getting pregnant forever and hauling wood and doing everything without any special dispensation. I also know that people used to die from HG, and before medical treatment I would probably have been one of them. I know this is just me being super sensitive but I've gotten flack from people before, and it sucks. I know that I have a ton of guilt for not being able to do more right now.
So in short, yes, pregnancy is not generally a disability, but things related to it can be.
I'm sorta sad lately. Trying to kick it. I think I might need to mention this to my midwife at the next visit though.
In my other random news: the barfs are back, big time. OMG spectacular pukes on Saturday night I'm 12 weeks... 2da!!! this is supposed to stop soon? yes?
Congrats @jessuhmarie beautiful baby! I'm sorry about the anterior placenta I have a feeling mine is too. I catch the heart beat in short bursts, but it's almost always background noise now, behind something else.
Am I the only one who uses being pregnant as an excuse NOT to carry things? I mean I know I can I'm just LAZY and TIRED and would rather have husband carry things...
@frecklesinside ALL THE GOOD VIBES for your phone interview.
@jessuhmarie Sorry that placenta is messing with your baby mojo.
@beckyj2013 I'm sorry BK disappointed you this morning. A Whopper does sound pretty good.
Hahaha @natashacoughlin You are TOTALLY the customer I would have ADORED when I worked at Sbux. Then again we pretty much kept the PS mix out all year round if we had any that wasn't expired...you just had to know to ask for it.
"Serious is only something you have to be until you can be silly again."
Oh, and here. Planet Hollywood's dessert buffet is amazeballs. It has ALL the cupcakes. And also cotton candy. And made to order crepes. And bread puddings. And frozen custard. And and and.
Let's see how much I can remember 5 pages in.... Sorry if I forget you!
Congrats on great appointments @Darbie914 and @jessuhmarie! Jess, I'm sorry you have an anterior placenta, but it's good that you can still hear the heartbeat faintly!
@wendyld I am so sorry dear. That had to suck. I'd go for a walk or go sit out in my car and cry if necessary. Hugs.
@FrecklesInside I hope by now you are in the middle of an awesome interview!! GL!!
@MauiBliss You're a nicer wife than I am... I would have said hell no! Sounds to me like maybe you'll need some nice new leather boots for the horseback riding part? And a beautiful UV blocking sun hat for the beach. And dessert with every meal. Make those skinny bishes jealous!
GL to those who are hunting the elusive PSL today! I have to confess that anything with coffee in it sounds gross to me right now, which makes me sad. Soon.... Soon.
Feeling better this morning thankfully. Acid reflux is starting up though I think... goody. Oh well. I am 11 wks 2ma! Almost lime sized! (Well, weirdly small lime sized... Lol.)
I'm such a dork. I just posted my update in brusha brusha. Fabulous NT scan! The tech asked if we wanted to know the sex & I said no because it's so early. DH thinks he saw a penis lol. I'm gonna wait until 20 weeks to call it at the a/s. Off to get DS haircut & then the park. I hope you all are having a good day too!
@MrsLaurenandDan I can see your point, and I'll try to remember that next time I'm rolling my eyes at a post like that. I have to wonder if people who act like that needlessly contribute to the flack you get for a legitimate medical restriction though. Do people think you're overreacting because they've encountered so many people who think they can't carry a grocery sack during a normal pregnancy?
@MrsLaurenandDan Much of the actual visits are play based. The activities I have right now are trying to get him to copy clapping, no specific pattern or anything. Just to get him to clap after I do and say the word. The other is to identify one body part, where I can point to my nose and say the word, and get him to point to his. He just has no interest.
@MandJS Why must you torture hungry, pregnant women so? I am dying for a cupcake and the cupcake truck (seriously, it's a thing) is not downtown today and my favorite coffee shop with the best treats is closed today!

How old is he? Can you try to work it in with whatever he is doing? Like "yay you built a tower! *clap* can you clap with me?"
@Darbie914 We call our baby LIttle Asskicker too. Great minds.
You guise I feel so bad for DD. On Saturday we went to my niece's 5th birthday party. They are really close and always play together, but niece had one of her friends from school at the party. The little girl kept telling my niece she didn't want to play with DD, so they kept running from her and didn't want to play with her. Which was fine, but I finally stopped DD from chasing my niece after she tried to sit with them and my niece kneed her in the back and she almost fell down some steps. She also pushed her at one point which really pissed me off because I've never seen her act like that.
After the party DD told me that her cousin hurt her feelings because she didn't want to play with her and was being mean to her. Cue waterworks and the realization that people will hurt my baby's feelings and there's nothing I can do to prevent it. I'm sure pregnancy hormones have a lot to do with it as I'm usually not so sensitive but damn if she didn't break my heart a little. I am sure DD is over it by now, but I keep picturing her sad little face as she told me that and I keep tearing up. So that is my randomness today.
Good luck with all the appointments today and congrats on the great appointments so far!
@createmagic14 I hope you have a great first day back to school. I go back to school today too (as a student). I'm not looking forward to losing my lazy days either.
@mauibliss I'm sorry your husband committed you to this trip. That's really shitty of him to not listen to your wishes on it. It sounds like he just wants you to have fun anyway, but he just isn't getting it.
@coozieinmypurse when I was laid up after my m/c a couple friends got together and made me a really sweet gift basket with some simple snacks (dried fruit, nutella dippers, kind bars), iTunes gift card, old girly dvds, magazines, nail polish and a puzzle book. I was at home so some of that may have to be modified for the hospital, but it saved me from boredom and I was so grateful!
@wendyld I'm so sorry you have to deal with that. Hugs

Thank you for the suggestion! He is 2 years old. He has clapped occasionally when we have praised him that way and clapped for him before. I'll have to try it that way more often. He tends to initiate clapping to have us copy him, but the therapist kept telling me we need to try to get him to do it the other way around.

This makes me sad (and a little angry that the parents let your neice act like a little asshole to other kids who were there for her at her birthday party).
@BitsyBelle84 good luck! I know it can be hard and frustrating. We did about 6m of speech from about 21m-27m. If you ever want to chat about it I'm here!
Yay for a great scan @jessuhmarie! I also have an AP and had one with DD, too. I couldn't feel anything until 22 weeks I hope we can both feel some kicks earlier than that!
Damn these hormones... I'm having another depressing day. I'm really missing my kids today for some reason.. I just want to be home with them and not at work. Tears keep coming and I have to hold them back so I'm not a weeping mess. If I could I would just cry my eyes out right now. I'm just really sad today. I've been feeling sad more often than not. Hate this!
@wendyld and @Darbie914 I should have mentioned that my brother is no longer with her mom, and she was not invited (long story for another day). My brother was at work and got there near the end, and my parents were so busy running around they didn't notice until I pointed it out. My other brother and his girlfriend saw what was going on and they scolded my niece but she kept acting the same. She is lacking in confidence and is a total follower, which I think stems from not having consistent discipline.
ETA: I don't think my niece's friend's mom noticed that her daughter was instigating. I happened to overhear when she said she didn't want to play with DD but to an onlooker it was obvious my niece was the one brushing DD off.
My random: since I've being eating out alone, I've noticed servers stop by your table a lot more. I know they probably feel sorry for me and are just being nice, but I'm like "The food's great! I'm fine! No, I can't have a cocktail! Now leave me alone so I can talk to my internet friends in peace!"
Ok guys, I have to ask. After reading the baby shower thread, I've been thinking. For my bridal shower, my sister found a theme of "Around the Clock." I believe, in the invitations she gave suggestions of a time of day the gift could be used for, for example: bath time, dinner time (my mom made up cleaning time so she could get me my vacuum). There was one guest who didn't see anything on the registry that she liked in her "time" so my mom told her to get whatever she wanted.
Rant: if one more person says they have no symptoms except for tired after their workouts I'm going to lose it. I wish I felt good enough to freaking work out much less move off my couch so shut the hell up! End rant. Sorry but I'm bitchy today.
It was storming like crazy this morning, so I took that as a sign that the world wanted me to stay in bed and enjoy the amazing sleep that comes from having an open window next to the bed durnig big thunder storms. I didn't get in to the office until after 10:30, and I feel zero guilt about it.
Yay for all the great appointments today, and GL to those who waiting for theirs!
@MauiBliss That sounds awful. Being around drunk people when you're sober is annoying enough, but drunken 20-somethings? Ugh! (Apologies to the 20-somethings here. ) I mean, I'm not a stranger to binge drinking, but the description of the activities gave me a secondhand hangover just from reading. I second, third, fourth, or whatever the spa day while you're there!
At our appointment last week the u/s tech told me that my tilted uterus had already "righted" itself. Today was the first day since last weekend that I looked for baby's HB on the doppler. Up until now, it had been faint but steady. Now it's very audible and the BPM are being picked up by the monitor finally!
Also, I definitely have a cold and it definitely sucks. I've been using the saline nasal mist, which provides minimal relief, when all I really want is to drown myself in NyQuil. To quote Denis Leary: "NyQuil, NyQuil, NyQuil, we love you...you giant fucking Q!"
@jenny0314 I'm so sorry about your fight. I read that earlier.. Hopefully you guys get past it and come to an agreement.
I just left work and went to Braum's to get the biggest molten lava cake sundae. Going to feel better in 3...2...1.... I still don't want to be at work though.. Waterworks need to stop.
I have a question. Is anyone else in here having issues with milk? It tastes so good and then a few minutes later I'm nauseous. I'm getting worried about it because I love drinking milk.
