Baby Showers

Am I going crazy?!

Re: Am I going crazy?!

  • Wow. I'm just shocked that the OP actually agrees with etiquette of some sort. But more shocked that she's still posting on such a mean and vile board.

The tackiness is outta control! However--Not all of f15 is tacky!! ;) I think there are a lot of people who just don't want to get flamed. It is easier to just tell people what they want to hear...

Are you referring to something the OP said about our board? I know she's created some drama on the tri boards, but I didn't know she knocked us anywhere. Because that ain't cool. And also? We lurk elsewhere too. Acceptance of someone else's social norms IS classy, thank you very much.

I have no idea if she's knocked F15 specifically but on the tri boards and wherever else she did go off her rocker on many of the users overlap. Maybe she found her place with F15 but with how badly she claims to hate e boards it makes no sense for her to stick around.
  • F15 mom here. Completely apalled by the tacky but wasnt online for a few days and i missed the drama :) We've had a ton of GBCB baby shower posts due to people being apalled by the tacky lol

I think most of the OPs drama has been on 1st tri. I didnt know she was in f15 til i just read the thread.

And im crushing on @Darbie914‌ right now.

Lucky for this board/F15... M15 has a LOT of ladies with class and tact. And we tend to lurk their board. So, there's that.

Maybe most of the F15 regulars just have thick skin.  I'm a FTM but it seems like the multiple shower debate comes up on every BMB.  (Including M15) ;)

Agreed. It's the fact that the F15 moms aren't appalled at the idea of the tacky that disturbs me. The M15 moms are fairly united on what is v. what isn't appropriate.

I'm an F15 mom and have spoken against second showers.

I'm starting to wonder about regional differences.  I was recently asked to host a "sprinkle" for my SIL's second child and it just got way out of my comfort zone, so I backed out.  Most of the invitees were A-ok with the idea of second shower (some of them being people my sister-in-law didn't even have last names or phone numbers for) and I was the weirdo.  We're in the midwest, so I'm wondering if there's just a lot more leniency around here in regards to proper etiquette rules.

I'm in the Midwest and I've never heard of 2nd + showers, not to mention sprinkles, until coming on the bump. But, I live in more of a rural area, so maybe it just takes awhile for the klassy news of sprinkles and multiple showers for multiple births to get here.

Same here. I live in a small town in Wisconsin. Second showers are not common here, but when they have been discussed it is always thought to be tacky! (Same with diaper showers and other ridiculous ways guests are told to spend their money.)
  • I live in the large city of Atlanta where people aren't as judgmental on what you do b/c their lives are too busy to actually give a fuck. You can have 1 shower or 9 showers, as long as you have a food, cocktails and good company, we will be there with a smile and a gift! And when we leave, we'll probably beg you to have another shower! It's just tacky to shove your version of proper etiquette on others!
  • Thank you for bumping a month old thread to call me tacky. Since you believe in second showers being ok, I think I'll be able to sleep tonight.
