TTC After a Loss

Sonohysterogram

Hi ladies, Just wondering if anyone has had a sonohysterogram? If so, what was it like? Did you get results on the spot? Were you able to return to work following the procedure? Any advice/experience welcome :)

Re: Sonohysterogram

  • Thank you @lav17‌ , I'm hoping they will give me the results there- it's going to be an OB and a radiologist doing the procedure. Did you get the results there?

Yes, twice! It's very quick. My RE performed it, so she told me right away. You need to take two Advils an hour before the procedure. There may be a little cramping as they fill the uterus with liquid, but the second time there was none at all for me, just some discomfort from the speculum and inserting the catheter (it's not any worse than getting a pap done). Make sure to bring a pad, there will probably be some leakage afterwards. Good luck!

All of this for me as well

  • Ditto what others said.  Really just very light cramping from cath past cervix (and well the first time it took him a while to figure out I need a smaller cath than he first expected) but then the leaking.  The nurse asked if I wanted to keep my shoes on since this was "a water ride".  I was like "Umm, if it shoot all the way to my feet we have a problem!!" And she laughed and said no, sometimes when you get up, more leaks onto the floor and you don't want to step in it in socks.  DUDE!  (P.S. while there is leaking, it's not that much. She had me worried.)

  • I second what PPs have said. It's relatively uneventful. If you can take Advil ahead of time it could help with the cramping. They had some difficulty getting through my cervix which was a little painful/crampy, but tolerable. All results were given right on the spot. Good luck!

I am happy someone posted this. I am having this done first thing Monday morning and was a little worried. I teach and I am going to work immediately following the procedure. I hope the experience is not eventful. Good luck LauraO11 on the procedure.
