packing for trip

We will be gone all week next week, taking a road trip to visit my younger sister. It is a 6-7 hour drive, we will be staying in Milwaukee and probably doing lots of walking and touristy things.

Besides the obvious things like clothes, diapers, cups, etc any suggestions on things to take for C that I might not think of?

I am taking both a stroller and the ergo, and some toys and books to keep him entertained in the car, but I feel like there is somehting that I am either going to forget, or not think about at all that could really come in handy.

Re: packing for trip

  • I always take my straw cleaner (if you use a straw cup) and a bottle brush because my hand is too big to real get some of his cups clean.

    Toothbrush?

    Spoons and forks?

See, I wouldn't have thought of the bottle & straw brushes!
    Thanks!

  • When we were on vacation, I ended up buying a backpack to use instead of the diaper bag. We were walking so much, and the diaper bag was so heavy on my shoulder. The backpack held a lot and evened out the weight, especially with carrying extra water bottles and snacks at the zoo.

I also recommend bringing way more wipes that you think you need. I wiped down tables, high chairs, etc.and went through a lot.

  • Ditto pp. Where is LO sleeping - don't forget sheets/lovie/etc if needed. Baby wash/shampoo, travel thing of diaper cream, tylenol or advil in case LO gets a fever or is teething while gone.

I always bring everything in his crib (blanket, stuffie of the week), 2-3x more clothes than I think I need.
Lots of toys and books we haven't been using for awhile.
  • I'd take baby nail clippers and baby meds, too. I've forgotten both of them on trips and had to buy them on the road.
