A woman who named her female pet a male occupation name (think Miller, Fisher, Hunter). She was mortified that her aunt keeps calling the pet a boy.
Someone told her that it's natural to think boy with a name like that, just like a boy named Sue would make people think girl. The pet owner had never heard of the Johnny Cash song. So of course now I feel old
Re: Overheard this morning
I actually had a male cat named Sue. He was always knocking stuff over and I called him Smooth for awhile and it eventually turned into Sue. When I took him in to be neutered, they had him marked down for a spay. But I understood why people always thought that he was a girl...I can't imagine being upset about it.
Also, I'm 23 and I know like all the words to that Johnny Cash song. The pet owner isn't young, they came from under a rock.
