MPI/MSPI mamas

I know there is a weekly check in on the Bf board but there are a few of us here avoiding dairy/soy. Do you have plans to intro foods back into your diet soon? Our pedi said we could start trying around the 6 month mark but I have been too nervous to try.

Just this week she had two bloody diapers again which she hasn't had in months. I've been racking my brain trying to think about what I could have eaten and I feel awful for her. She has been extra cranky and it's obvious something was bothering her.

Re: MPI/MSPI mamas

  • I've started re-introducing dairy slowly. I'm starting with stuff that lists dairy or milk in the last ingredients. I'm planning to do that for the next few weeks, and I'll move on to things that have dairy in them like maybe a baked good. So far LO has done well with that.
I would say that if you're still having bloody diapers, then hold off on dairy. But talk to your pedi first.

  • I'm glad you brought this up as I've been thinking a lot about it lately. I haven't been eating any dairy since dd was 3-4 weeks old. There have been a few occasions where it was accidental like looking at an outdated allergen menu.

A long time ago I read to try introducing baked in dairy first but I need to read more about it. I was in a pinch the other day and was given a sandwich with bread that I assume would have dairy in it, so I thought I'd give it a try. It's been about a week now and I haven't seen any blood in her stool or any other symptoms. So I'm hopeful she's growing out of it. That being said, I'm still pretty nervous about trying things with more dairy so I'll probably hold off a while longer.

I'd be interested to hear from someone who dealt with this before as ds didn't have a prob with dairy.
