**FFFC: Flame Free Friday Confessions**

Here's a confession: Sometimes when I see cat barf on the floor and I feel too lazy to pick it up, I leave it there for my husband to notice because I know he's not lazy and will always pick it up. Often the way he notices it is by stepping in it. So basically I am willing to ruin my husband's morning to get out of picking up the cat barf.

  • I ate rare steak and had a glass of wine at our "we're having a baby" celebratory dinner last night. I actually didn't even think about it until we got home. :-/

  • I swam for four years on a swim team in high school. I still swim laps a few times per week. I'm a good swimmer. And yet, I'm still irrationally afraid of deep water and the "deep end" of the swimming pool.
  • On the lines of food. I ate sushi the night I told DH I was pregnant. About 3/4 of the way through dinner I realized I should not be eating it. Oh well. Not sorry at all. And I plan to continue to enjoy sushi once in a while during this pregnancy.

My real FFFC : One of the many reasons I love to babywear my toddler (especially using a strap carry) is for the reaction I get out of people who are uneducated about babywearing.

I still babywear my 2.5 year old. Most people for some reason think only "babies" should be worn in a carrier.

For example (this actually happened). I am at the ballgame with my child walking around the stadium. When stranger approaches.
Stranger : Aww, how old is he?
    Me : 2.5 years old
Stranger : WOW. You should let him walk, he
IS old enough, plus that has to hurt you carrying him like that. And can't be comfortable for him.
Me : He must be comfy cause he is passed out up there and I would NOT be carrying him if it were uncomfortable for me. *smile and walk away*

Now lets change it just a little and say I were with a stroller, see how crazy that conversation would be. No different. My kid still would NOT be walking. I would have my hands full pushing a stroller and no hands for the food I am supposed to be buying.

Strap carry <---- click for explanation : basically your kid is held in place by a skinny piece of fabric with just a couple passes. Awesome for HOT places when you do not want the bulk of extra fabric covering you or your child. It is an advanced back carry for babywearing.

There is a lot of great information out there about babywearing, I actually did not know much outside of the world of commercialized carriers until the last year. If you are interested, look for a local babywearing group in your area or you can find great information here --> Babywearing International

  • irishtheatrechic : My pleasure. I wish I had known more about a lot of things (including babywearing) the first time around. :)

  • I will lie to my RE on Monday when I go in for my beta and tell her that I didn't test early. I remember from my last pregnancy how she said telling people they are pregnant is a highlight of her job. No need to wreck it then. I will call my midwives to make my first appointment once I hear it officially from her.

My only temptation to let her know ahead of time is that I would love to know when I get to taper off the Estrace and Endometrin.
  • I have already spent close to 100 bucks on pregnancy tests and I've only been pregnant a couple days. I have not used them all already, but I will.

  • @GR8TDANEMOM I have a whole bunch of FRERs and Wondfos and even though I got my BFP yesterday, I still tested again this morning. I'll probably keep testing every few days or so just because I can.
  • @GR8TDANEMOM I have 6 tests with BFP. Last one was used last night. You are not alone.

  • Okay glad I'm not the only nutball here. I've taken just about every brand of test (like 5 or 6 kinds) and I've been taking $ tree tests every single day so far since getting my first BFP. You know, just to be sure.

  • @sarasansh I had a glass of wine the day before I tested. I told MH that it could be my last for awhile :) I'm glad you got to finish up your beer!
