Ibprofen?!

Is it true you shouldn't take ibprofen while ttc?!

My History:
Lots of BFN's & failed IUI's w/clomid and/or femara
Finally BFP with femara & t.i.- son born 6/17/2010
Started TTC again around when DS was 3ish
Lots of BFN's with femara & t.i & ovidrel
Tubes clear, S.A came back low motility but high count
About to switch to injectables w/femara, did one last cycle with just femara & an IUI with ovidrel- stupid motility was fantastic in the sample, but count was 700,000 AFTER wash! Had to sign a paper to even still do IUI- BFFP (big fat freaking positive) Go figure!

I have only heard (via the interwebz, not from my doctor) that it should be avoided around the time of potential implantation.

I have heard it came thin the lining for implantation as well. I used to take it a lot and switched to Tylenol if need be the last few cycles just in case.

I can tell you when I took it during the first 2 weeks my lining would not be as thick as when I did not take it

No Ibuprofen in the 2WW and RE's will rec that you not take it at all while you are TTC because they tend to err more on the side of caution. You can't take while you are pregnant, anything that should be avoided during pregnancy, should technically be avoided in the 2ww.

According to my RE you should not use any NSAIDs near the time of ovulation.  There have been studies that show NSAID use can cause temporary infertility (originally primarily linked to implantation failure - need some inflammation to have implantation) and I was recently shown an article about a study that shows NSAIDs can cause delays in ovulation.

I am on indomethacin for AS.  I had not taken it in years because you aren't supposed to take it while pregnant, I didn't want to take anything more than the bare minimum while breastfeeding and because of the concerns associated with taking NSAIDs while TTC.  After my last two failed IVF cycles, I spoke to my RE about starting it up again.  She said to stop taking it before O and wait until AF arrives to start again if we wanted to continue to TTC on our own while we were trying to decide what we want to do next.
