Deep freeze fail/breast milk

I went to put another box (about 10 bags) of frozen breastmilk in the stand up deep freeze and I noticed the top shelf had frost build-up covering 2 boxes of frozen bags. I took a closer look and the very top edge of the bags is liquid/thawed (just barely). Its very cold in there and the rest of the milk is solid. Its in the garage and its been pretty humid so im not sure if its just crapping out or can't keep up as its plum full. I only open it to put bags in it. My husband is picking up a new chest tonight. So question...do I toss the milk on top or use it right away? We havent used any of my stash and I dont want to waste it! TIA

When was the last time you checked the deep freezer? If it's more than 24 hours I would toss it. It sounds like you have a great stash so try not to worry about it! (Even though I understand how you feel about not wanting to waste any).

I agree with pp - pitch it. way better to be safe than make your LO sick

Is it completely defrosted? If there are still ice crystals you can refreeze. Otherwise smell it or taste it yourself. If it's bad you can tell.

Its all still mostly frozen. I have them frozen flat then stacked sideways in a shoebox. The top side has a little mushy milk in it. The boxes themself look warped and frost all over them.

I was gonna transfer them to our freezer in our house while the new deep freeze gets up and working. Maybe I will thaw one and taste it myself. I did see some info on kellymom that seemed to indicate it would be fine.
