bronchitis while pregnant

edited August 2014 in October 2014 Moms
I unfortunately am then lucky one who got bronchitis both times I have been pregnant l. The first timeI had it before I knew I was pregnant and this time at the end. I get it every single year (you would think I was a smoker but I'm not nor have I ever been). The worst part about this time is I just got a call to inform me the gentleman I spent a lot of time taking care of this weekend at work just got admitted with pneumonia. :/ I'm wondering if I should call my doc..? I haven't gone in for the bronchitis because it is something I get yearly and have stuff on hand for and its Kore of just a waiting game until it passes typically.

***I have noticed the past couple days when I drink cold water I get really bad cramping in my chest and back (lung area). I don't typically get this with bronchitis. Maybe it is because I am pregnant so there is more pressure IDK.

  • Even if you feel like you have it under control, I would definitely call so they can let you know what symptoms would make them nervous and want you to come in.

  • I would call and give the doctor a heads up. That way they can help if needed. Please keep an eye on a fever. I had it a couple of months ago and it is no fun.

  • Should I call my OB or my primary? I need to get a new thermometer, the battery died on our axillary one a few months ago and the battery costs more than the thermometer did.

  • Call your OB about anything if you are pregnant.  Primary care providers tend to avoid prescribing drugs to a pregnant woman even if they are safe and necessary.

I agree. My PCP always deferred to my OB with my first pregnancy.

That's what I was thinking since my PCP even recommended me waiting for my yearly check up until after the baby was born.

  • Agree with OB. When I have called my PCP and tell them I expecting 1st question asked is if OB approved the meds and or what have you.
