I hope it'll be alright for me to join you ladies. I'm returning to work next week and thought this would be a good place for me to participate by offering my support and experience and maybe share a vent or two

A little background: I'm mostly active on SAIF. DH and I are rapidly approaching 30, we have one DD who's 4 1/2 and a DS who is almost 4 months. I'm an elementary school teacher, but I'm been off since April when I went on maternity leave. I'm really apprehensive about returning to work because DS is very attached and I'm not only incredibly sad to leave him for my own selfish reasons, but worried about him not adjusting well. We've spent the past 4 months attached at the hip. My mom will be watching him most days and we have a close friend who will watch at other times. The only upside is DD will be in Transitional Kindergarten at the school where I teach, so I'll have her with me so to speak.

Best of luck. Babies are pretty resiliant. I was home for 5 months when my DS was 6months-11months and it was worse for me going back than it was him. He was fine. It would be harder now that he's 3 for me to be home for a long period of time then send him back to daycare. But as a baby - he didn't care much.

I was pretty torn up about leaving my DS at an in-home DC when I went back, but he did really well there. Babies are usually adaptable. Hopefully he likes it and it eases your mind.
