Thinking Ahead...Fall/Winter Jackets

STMs - Thinking ahead as fall and winter are fast approaching...What is the best thing to buy for LO? I live in Virginia so we do get snow and it does get cold, but I don't know if I need a baby snowsuit. Ideas? Also when does LO NEED to wear shoes? I still haven't put any on DD and I think they are kind of pointless since they aren't walking yet.

Thanks @anniemore! I didn't know if it was best to get a suit or an actual jacket. I'm curious how much room the suit takes up in the carseat. Does that make sense?

Did anyone buy bunting of footmuff for the car? I did but haven't opened yet. Can't decide if it's necessary. I know coats are a no no in the car seats. I bought this one:

@kimbus22 - ugh, safety ruins everything! No seriously, thank you for the heads up - I didn't know that. So I should stick with fleece jackets, correct?

ON has a full body micro fleece suit. I can't copy the link on my phone but it is so cute and cheap!

I got padraigs for him to wear on his feet and a one piece fleece for winter.

For fall i just got him a fabric coat and rain coat. I will layer him if i have to.

With living in Hawaii I never thought of what to buy for winter.. But we are traveling to the mainland for Christmas. This was all great info.

We live in VA too... I just bought a plush/fleecy material jacket for him to wear. I'll just cover him with a blanket in the carseat/car trips (along with the coat). I also bought a fleece body suit for him from Carters. It's not like they will be spending a lot of time outside - it's mainly just to keep them warm going from the house to the car and from the car into places. And VA doesn't get TOO cold (as opposed to what I'm used to, being from Wisconsin)!

 

ETA: Where in VA do you live @Jcrewgirl85 ?

@DH09072012 - agreed! I'm from MI and my husband is from NH so when it snows and people freak out, I'm like WHHHHYYYY?! I don't understand that if it MIGHT snow, the schools close and work may or may not be open.

I live in CT and schools now close for everything, like 1 inch of snow. They are so paranoid about lawsuits these days. And if one school district is rational and stays open, everyone criticizes the decision.
