PBK anywhere chair --- Updated with uglywhere chair question.

I don't know why we didn't get DD one for her first birthday but we didn't. We are going to get her one now but I had a couple questions?

Do your LOs like them? And did they use them a lot?

And I should just go ahead and get the Anywhere Chair and not the My first anywhere chair... Right?!

Re: PBK anywhere chair --- Updated with uglywhere chair question.

  • We also have 2 uglywhere chairs...DS1 has the oversize and DS2 has the regular.  They both love them and use them multiple times daily.  We saved a ton by ordering from UglySofa instead of PBK and they are the exact same thing.
  • Loading the player...
  • I have three Uglywhere Chairs. They LOVE them. Though right now they use them as tumbling apparatuses more than chairs, but I'm sure that will change ;). Definitely get the regular size.

  • If you want the PBK version, subscribe to their emails and they'll give you a ten percent off coupon. There are also occasional days when anywhere chairs are twenty percent off. The sales lady also told me they go on sale around Xmas, but that might be too late for you.

  • We have the PBK anywhere chair. A couple of weeks before xmas they were on sale for 20% off. He uses it as much as a 20 year old sits down. But I use it for photos too lol.

  • I bought the insert off Ebay (new and in plastic), and the cover from Pottery Barn with a coupon. I saved about $50 doing it this way.

  • Both of my DDs have one (each was purchased for their 1st Christmas gift) and DD1 who is 6.5 yo still uses hers.  I find her with a stack of books, quieting reading in the playroom sometimes.  Warms my mom heart.

Also, when DD1 was about 1.5, she was sitting in the chair and had a diaper blowout.  It went through the cover and on to the foam insert.  I called to see if I could get a replacement bottom cushion and they said they didn't sell them individually, but the store manager said that things happen and let me come and get a new insert, free of charge.  Seriously awesome customer service.

  • These chairs are going to drive me up the wall.

Another question. I'm looking through the options at uglysofa.com.. Well, can you not get one personalized? Am I reading this correctly? Or do I need coffee and sleep?

Hopefully there is also a note shipped with this item that says, "Please consult others prior to naming future children."

I know. I found DDs name, but spelled differently than we spell it. I know it's different but come on people.
  • They have plain ones and free personalization for the plain ones OR you can order one that someone returned to Pottery Barn and they buy the returns.  I'll try to upload a picture of my boys' chairs from ugly sofa once I get DS2 in bed.
  • I think I refuse to buy them from a company that thinks it's perfectly normal to name your child Braylin or Evanne. What the actual fuck were they thinking?

    They weren't thinking. Haha
  • I have an Uglywhere chair that I bought for my daughter.  I wouldn't recommend the company.

They never gave me a shipping date and were very uncommunicative.  After a number of emails without response, I told them that I would be contacting my CC company to do a chargeback.  Only then did I get a time estimate for when I would get the chair.

When we got it, the embroidery was slightly crooked (the embroidery was done custom for my order).  I was not satisfied at all, but my daughter loved it, so MH didn't want me to return it.

(Hopefully I don't cause a shitstorm like I did last time I posted on SAHMs...sorry about that again!)
Ahhh. That's something I was thinking. That with my luck it would be crooked. Sorry yours was messed up!

Like I said, we've gotten 2 from UglySofa and haven't had any issues with the quality.  I'm sure some get messed up but I would also expect that PBK doesn't have a 100% track record either.  As for the shipping, they are slow but they state that on their website.  They are a mom & pop operation and not a giant company.

Either way, the chair (whether you order from PBK or Uglysofa) has gotten TONS of use from my kids and my 6-year old can still fit in his brother's regular size but we did get him the oversize when we ordered.  I definitely don't regret the purchase and think it's actually one of the things DS2 plays with most (since he uses it to climb on and roll over, etc).
  • When you buy a chair from Ugly Sofa, what you're getting is a genuine PBK anywhere chair cover with a foam insert that they make themselves. They get returns and overstocks from PBK somehow. I was going to order the twins' chairs from PBK because I liked the colors better than the ones Ugly Sofa had to offer, but even with the 10% off, it was just too damn much money to justify it. I got both Uglywhere chairs for less than the cost of one actual PBK chair shipped (their shipping is RIDICULOUS, especially since they consider a foam-and-fabric chair to be "furniture" so there's always a surcharge).

I will say that I wasn't thrilled with their monogramming. DS1's and DD's were pre-monogrammed, but for DS2 I asked Uglysofa to personalize it with the same font, and it's not quite the same and the name is bigger than on the other two. Most people probably wouldn't notice, but it bugs me a little.

  • I totally understand any company can mess up. Like I always say, if something was messed up, it must've been made on a Friday. They just wanted the weekend to start. ;)
