What is your stance on whether or not mom's diet effects NB gas? Kellymom says not to sweat it, but I feel bad that we have to constantly stay on top if giving L gas drops. N was gassy, too, but he was FF and got better when we went to a sensitive formula

Both my kids had issues with gas.  We did the drops with the first one.

With my son I didn't bother.  It only seemed to bother him for a week and then he got the hang of it.  I think he was just adjusting to digesting and feeding.

But I watched for rashes or any other sign that it might be a food allergy.

My kid gets extra fussy/gassy if I have dairy. Small amounts don't seem to bother him much (I.e. a little butter, a small slice of cheese), but a glass of milk is noticeable. Even now at almost 8 months old.

Also, things that make me gassy made him gassy too...onions, broccoli, etc.

I believe your diet does affect LOs gassiness. But their guts are also just really immature right now. It's normal for a 3 week old to be really gassy. You're also in the middle of the 3 week growth spurt so that's added fussiness which could make you think gas, extra eating which could cause extra gas, etc.
Unless there are other symptoms, green or mucousy poops, excessive spitting, lack of weight gain, I wouldn't worry about just gas right now.
Don't forget other methods than gas drops such as bicycling the legs and massage. I also found my girls could expel gas really well during tummy time.

Usually about 2 hours. Random green is normal like you said though.
