Call your doctor. And go to labor and delivery if it gets worse, then?

They see this kind of thing ALL the time. It's their job. You won't look stupid/annoying if you aren't in labor. It's best to go and get checked out, to be on the safe side.

  • It sounds like early labor if the pains/contractions are 15-20 mins apart. Active labor are contractions about 5-7 mins apart. I'm not sure of your history, but as long as your pregnancy has been uncomplicated, and you're >37weeks and no history of previous c-section you could wait until they get closer together before going to labor & delivery. Of course if you start leaking fluid/water breaks, lots of vaginal bleeding and baby isn't moving as much call MD. Good luck.
  • thank you aodom52309 .. everything has seemed to be ok... Little high blood pressure worries..I am 38 weeks and 3 days along... sorry forgot to mention that.

  • I sent an email to them through their patient access thing... I just dont know. and no one can tell me what labor is really like. FTM BTW

  • because they are assholes there ... the whole damn office

  • I wish to all hell I went someplace else.

  • It's bad enough that the a nurse at the hospital said they were before I even said a word one day.... that's sad....
  • it's just that way I dont have to listen to their sighing... and bothered tone.... I will call Labor and the delivery at the hospital if I must if I dont hear from them. I was just wondering if anyone ever had these pains... are they labor pains?? I Dont know that is why I asked

  • and I am to nice.. I have been told. SMH I just reallt wanna bitch slap them.... one doctor got down right nasty with me one day... because i didnt watch the fetal movement monitor because it wasnt even facing me...I was not goign to move the machine. Crap...
  • He responded............................ they are normal aches and pains and braxton hicks. If the baby is moving well then fine. If not you need to be monitored by the hospital.
  • I felt absolutely nothing before my water broke with my first. I was just laying on my couch watching TV. I didn't start getting back labor until hours later.

Everyone experiences labor differently, just like everyone experiences pregnancy differently. "Am I going into labor?" is a question that can really mess with you, which is why it is a good idea to get some clear instructions from your OB about what you should look for, and if ever in doubt you should always call them.

I'm sorry your doctor's office is a bunch of assholes, but they are still in a better position to help you than we are. Good luck.
  • Every women experienced labor a little differently.  Im on my 4th baby an with my third I had the same issues your experiencing above.  Not sure about you, but the pain was consistent time wise.  I would have to breath through theme they were so bad but would be 3 minutes apart then stop for 20 minutes and start again.  Mine ended up being round ligiment pain.  With my other children I knew I was in labor when everything was consistent.  Last night had another wierd thing happen, I had a pain in lower abdomen one spot and it didn't come and go was continuous.  I finally said, this is really weird and called L&D of course they said to come in and what would you know I was having contractions and didn't even know it.  They admitted me (34 weeks) and made me stay for monitoring 24 hours then finally discharged me.  So after 4 babies I still get confused.  LOL
  • it would be nice if a Light would just go off saying "labor started" LOL pottytrainer  LOL If only.... but that would make life easy! LOL

  • It sounds normal.  Even with a high pain tolerance, if it were the real thing, you'd know it.  You probably wouldn't be able to type.
