TTC after 35

Mid-Week Chat!

I figured a mid-week chat is in order. We have a lot of new ladies on here as well as some 'veterans' that I want to hear from!

How is your week going so far? It doesn't even have to be TTC-related. Tell us anything that's on your mind. A vent, a happy accomplishment, etc. Let's chat! :)

_____________________

Let's see...this week so far has been challenging/emotional. I have a very demanding (but lucrative) freelance client that I have been doing design work for years for him. This week-- he is extra testy, and throwing waaaay too much work on me with short deadlines. While I want to do whatever he wants me to do for him, I have two new clients to tend to. I have a homepage web design due to a new client by Friday as well as an entire marketing/branding piece due to someone else tomorrow. I would pawn some of this work off on the Sr. Designer, but she is also overwhelmed.
Grrrr. I guess I have some late nights ahead!

***child mentioned***
Yesterday was my son's 1st day of 1st grade, and it took me everything in my power NOT to cry as I held his hand and walked him to his first class.

Other than that-- PMSing for sure, and VERY eager for AF to arrive. She isn't due until this weekend, but...I know after this cycle, I officially start TTC, so let's get this cycle done and over with!

  • @lsgdesigner hang in there with the tough clients an long days/nights. I was a designer in a past life and remember those days well (even fondly...). Now I'm a lawyer. Lots of unreasonable deadlines and way less creative juice :(

I'm just starting to learn all the lingo and lurk around the boards to figure out what to do when I start charting and such. Waiting for AF right now, my cycle is always messed up when I fly for some reason so I know it will come later than usual. I did my first POAS earlier in the week just for fun...BFN of course, but it was funny to experience the first time I wasn't praying for that outcome, ha! (Had a few "scares" along the way in life.)

Otherwise looking forward to the weekend with DH, working on making our house more organized and eventually ready for a new member! FX.

  • Inservice all week. Ughhh! Completely pointless and unorganized. I think district leaders who pay thousands of dollars for speakers should watch a video of the presentation first and see how mind numbingly boring they are. Mass group texting was the only saving grace. It was like being on a heated bump thread. Only 1 more day left then back to the serenity of my classroom.

  • @wannabmama23 - Thank you. I can handle a lot at once, but cannot WAIT until my honeymoon so I can have an entire week off to do absolutely nothing.

And yeah-- the lingo around here does take a while to get used to. But, once you get it down, you will be accidentally saying the lingo to your DH to tell him what the girls on the board are doing. The other day I was talking to my fiance and said "Yeah...a few girls are waiting on their BFP's, so I am chart stalking them to see if they O'd and if AF is on its way." He looked at me like I had ten heads. Ha!

@Icwed - Uggggh. I would despise that. Come on, Friday!
  • @lgsdesigner One of my co teachers just told me about this wedding app her husband found that they used at their wedding this summer.  I guess you set up an account, have guest download the app and enter your code, and then all the wedding pictures they take with the app, go directly to your account.  No disposable cameras needed.  She is checking on the name of it.  Your so on top of things you probably already know about it.

  • @lcwed and @lgsdesigner‌ my brother and his wife used wedpics. Not too many people did it because they sent out the email after the wedding. But I'm sure if you let everyone know ahead if time they can take plenty if phone pics to send to you.

  • My life is almost hilariously dull.

I've either walked or jogged 23.5 miles since Saturday, which means I'll probably land ahead of my goal of 25 miles per week. I have acupuncture tonight, and Saturday a friend of ours is coming up from DC so we'll probably round up some more of the guys and go out for dinner and drinks (I always wind up being the lone woman on these trips, which is usually fun). Right now I'm trying to herd cats - we do a weekend cabin trip with some friends twice a year, and I'm trying to get everybody to agree on a town to visit and a place to stay.

Oh, and I found out that architecture erotica is a real thing, which amuses me to no end. Like, what would it say? "She quivered, heart racing, loins aflame, as the flying buttresses of the cathedral transmitted their thrust to the heavy abutment."
Me: 38 DH: 40 TTC#1 (and likely only) since 9/13. Saw RE 5/14, SA good, AMH 2.36, FSH 7.2, estradiol 69.6 indicating good egg reserve. Using OPKs. First Letrozole cycle 6/14, a burst cyst and a BFN. Second Letrozole cycle 7/14, BFN.

Update 11/14 - had laparoscopy 10/28, good news is that my uterus and left tube look good, and they were able to drain the cyst on my left ovary. Bad news is that right tube and ovary have endo and scar tissue, so they're pretty useless.. Best news is that we finally have some answers and a path forward. Taking 7.5 mg letrozole CD 2-6 to put that good left ovary through its paces.

UPDATE 2/2015 - We switched to another fertility clinic, but fortunately we don't have to start all over. We're doing two cycles of Clomid plus IUI, if neither of those take, we'll do IVF in April, potentially with ICSI. (DH's SA has gone downhill, likely due to excessive exercise.) IUI#1 2/25/15....
  • @Austrogermokee- 25 miles a week is NOT a dull life. Neither is enjoying a little architecture erotica (which I find prety damn hilarious, and never heard of...thanks for sharing!).

I enjoy being a "long woman" around all guys because that's when the tomboy in me comes out. Sometimes good, sometimes bad, but always fun!

  • I wind up being the den mother and getting asked for dating advice.

  • @Austrogermokee- Yeah...that sounds about right. My FI's best guy friend and my brother do that when we all go out. Of course-- they are both stubborn Sagittarius' who do what they want even when I give advice, but it's still nice they see me as their "wisdom warrior".
  • @Austrogermokee HA! Thanks for that architecture erotica tip. Had to look it up and found that McSweeney's did a post on it: https://www.mcsweeneys.net/articles/erotica-for-architects  Some suggested titles:

  • Oh this thread....it has me laughing even though I really don't understand architecture.

You know @lgsdesigner....as a photographer......I fully encourage you to have an "unplugged" wedding. While the photos are AWESOME, sometimes guests can downright ruin photos during your ceremony or cause major problems during the reception with their flashes. Seriously. Im going to find some  examples for you.

Once during the Grand Entrance a person with a photo capable iPad jumped in front of me to capture some crazy entrance fun. I missed some great shots as I fought with her for position.

I have friends who missed the kiss in the ceremony. Just something to think about! lol

  • (child mentioned below)

Thanks for the architecture porn laughs.

My classes are starting up again this week and I'm too distracted by The Bump and Fertility Friend. My mind is just mush. DS and I went to the library today and he enjoyed playing with the toys and running around the shelves. Then we had goat, fresh tomato, and pesto pizza but he didn't like it because he doesn't like tomatoes. Inconceivable!

I'm entering the TWW crazies. I ovulated a day earlier than I thought. However, I had a suspicion when my libido and CM vacated mid-morning of O+1. I just can't wait until I'm not cataloging any type of CM every minute of the day.

That's just my mind dump. Hugs to all of you.

  • How bad is it that I looked up architecture terms on Wikipedia so my building porn would be semi-plausible?

It just means that you respect your craft.  Is it bad that I spent a decent amount of time yesterday thinking of good uses for "back door" (not an industry-level architectural term, but...) and "buttress"?

Good cause its seriously the most annoying thing ever. The thing that sucks is I love the Instagram thing people do because i love photos (clearly) but man, it turns it into a free for all with the cameras and phones.
