10 weeks for me. There is no reason to go in sooner unless something happens. So it will be around the beginning of October. My midwife said I could go in sooner but I don't see the point and I want to see her, she is busy until then with opening a new birth center.
I have my first OB visit in a couple weeks to get blood work done and they set up my second appointment for middle of September as well. I had an appointment with my Endocrinologist this morning to get blood work done to check my thyroid levels, she upped my prescription just a little (to be safe) until my blood work comes back and know for sure if we need to do with my medication levels.

Yup. DS is Tommy Pickles! Nothing like living with an escape artist. Just another cloth diapering, baby wearing mama.
I havent made mine yet, either! I had an amazing midwife with DS and plan to use her again. I'm hoping to schedule first appt/ultrasound on Sept 26, or 9 weeks. I should probably call soon, though!
Okay my first appointment is 9/17. They are going off of my LMP which I'm going to need to correct, because I ovulate around CD 19 and those 5 days will make a big difference with a scheduled c-section. I'll take the early appointment though.
Same! 9/17 will be my first appt.
I didn't ovulate until CD 21, so that's going to put me a week later than LMP, but I was more than happy to take an earlier appt.
me too! They are scheduling based on LMP. I tried to correct when talking to scheduler, but she said they would correct after first ultra sound. I am happy for the earlier appointment. Based off my LMP my due date would be Aprill 11th. Bahahaha! WRONG. I ovulated (most likely) CD34/35. So almost 3 weeks off.

My first appointment with the midwife is this Thursday! I guess she wanted me to come in early since it's my first and I've never met her. They also probably went by my LMP even though I told them not to. Based on that I'd be 6w 2d on Thursday but since I know when I ovulated, I know I'm only going to be 4w 5d at that point. Oh well, I'm anxious to meet the midwife and make sure I like her since my previous OB/GYN was c-section happy and midwives are nearly impossible to find here.
My OB is having me come in for betas and I'll do my first one tomorrow. She wants me to come in as soon as she thinks there would be anything to see, due to my history. The nurse said as soon as my numbers are over 6,000 they will see me for an US. Does anyone have any idea how long that normally would take?
I probably won't be seen until 12 weeks but I'm ready now. I had PIH (pregnancy induced hypertension) that was almost pre eclampsia last time. I just have some questions to ask my OB about that. I really hope I don't swell like last time. It was so bad I could barely walk.
Mommas who have already had pregnancies before... could you share what we might expect at the first doctor's appointment? I know they do urine and blood, but do they do an ultrasound at all? Anything I should know in advance?
ETA: I get really nervous with needles and blood, but I usually do better if I know what's happening before it happens, if that makes sense.
@sarahchrismck I am sure every dr does things differently. I will tell you this because I am so glad that someone told me this, any ultrasound done under 12 weeks is an internal. My first apt with DS consisted of an internal ultrasound, an internal exam, and lots of questions. I believe that there was bloodwork as well. I feel like bloodwork happened at most appointments.
I have an appointment scheduled for September 17th! I found a midwife really nearby who delivers at the closest hospital. FX that I like her, because I want to go with a midwife and she's then only one close I could find.
I was so nervous to call! I didn't even know what to say, but I just said that I had never been into their office, but I found their practice online and I had taken a home pregnancy test and wanted to make an appt with midwife so-and-so. And no one yelled at me. So it was good.
I need to call yet, but it will probably be close to 10 weeks, so end of September/ first week of October. I love love love my midwife and am so happy to have found her.
I have not made my appointment yet. I likely will not call until the end of this week/beginning of next. My OB saw me at 8 weeks with my first and I have no reason to think it will be different this time. I called the day I found with my first and I think they were a little surprised at a call so "soon" even though I was almost 5 weeks when I called.
My first appointment was medical history, etc. as she was a new doctor for me. Bloodwork and peed in a cup. I had a pap because I was due for one. And we had a sonogram, which I do know is not the norm and depends on the doctor. We were able to see our "gummy bear" and saw his heartbeat.

My first appt is on 9/2 not sure why she scheduled me so early, but I am not complaining. I know exactly when I Od but I think I'm going to try to convince them to do a dating ultrasound... we'll see.
I just scheduled mine today during my lunch break. I'm going on Sept. 18 to do my labs (urine and blood) and the first real appointment is Sept. 26, at the end of 8 weeks.
I'm super nervous because I don't do well with needles or doctors poking around my lady parts, but I'll suck it up like a big girl.
@sarahchrismck I did not find them uncomfortable. People call it a dildo cam because it's about the size of a dildo. (I apologize if that's too graphic)
Nurse appt on 9/22 at week 8 and then first visit with doc to hear the heartbeat on 10/8 at the 10 week mark. Is it just me or does any other first time moms think this is way too long? I am so nervous something will happen between now and then. And i feel like the nurse visit is a tease because they wont know if everything is ok. Mind is wandering

That is actually pretty standard. Even if something were to happen between now and then, there is little to nothing your doctor would be able to do to prevent it. For me, I'm okay waiting until 8/10 weeks because any earlier and you potentially not see something on an u/s, which could cause unnecessary worry, and it is next to impossible to hear a heartbeat earlier, again, potentially causing undue stress.
Try not to focus on it.

My first is also the 17th! They said ultrasound and everything. Have to start with a new doctor though, my stupid school district changed our plan and my current OB was on the higher tier. I'm not paying extra for someone I'm not that attached to lol we shall see how the new person is!
I'm waiting to meet my midwife right now! It's early, so it's more of a "meet her and make sure I don't hate her" appointment. I'm still excited though! I've heard good things about her and it's really difficult to find an OB in Memphis who doesn't want to schedule an unnecessary c-section immediately. It's kind of the black hole of natural birth and I'm the kind of gal who would birth on The Farm with Ina May Gaskin if I lived close enough.
@kat0217 that's awesome! Are you having a home birth? My first baby was a water birth at a birthing center. I had a great experience and am planning on that again.
sarahchrismck - that so reminds me of when I had my first baby. This is so embarrassing...but when I found out I was pregnant with him, I don't think I had even been to see my OB in 3 years. I was sooooo nervous. My first appt they whisked me back for a sono and I about fell off the table when they said they would be giving a vaginal ultrasound. I had literally NO IDEA that they wouldn't do the cute belly wand that early. I learned quick!
Seriously though, I am the biggest wuss and I handled all the appts just fine. They will become no biggie very quickly.

I'll be going in tomorrow for the first round of betas and a re-check next week. My dr. will schedule an u/s around 6 weeks (only because we had a loss and have been dealing with secondary infertility for a year). Normally, she schedules the first appointment at 8 weeks.
@sconklin1982 & @Starbuck128 I am sadly not doing a home birth. The options were either pay almost $4,000 out of pocket for a home birth or use this midwife who delivers at the hospital close to us and have it mostly covered by insurance. We were also slightly apprehensive about it since it's our first and I'm sort of prone to weird illnesses/accidents. However, I do plan to labor at home in my tub for as long as possible before going to the hospital. If all goes well, we may do home birth for the next one!
@sarahchrismck if you are worried, ask the technician if you can insert it yourself. Definitely less uncomfortable that way. Well, in my experience anyways.
My intake appt with the midwife is on the 8th of September.
Appointment set for Oct 17- 11 weeks because my Dr is on vacation. I would rather wait two weeks for her than meet with a different OB. I love my doctor.
With DD I had some spotting for a few weeks and had to be seen early. I had a dildo cam ultrasound to check everything out. It wasn't that uncomfortable, but I think I was too frightened of what they would see to be concerned about comfort at that moment.
First appointment isn't set yet; the midwife asked when I wanted, and I suggested somewhere around 7-8wks, so I expect it'll be a month or so. But I do have my midwife selected and I've officially enrolled as her patient.
