I need a pep talk! This birthday is hitting me hard because I was so sure I would be pregnant or have a baby by now and I'm feeling like this stupid number is going to make it that much harder for me to find success.

I know exactly what you mean, @Carol77B‌. I'll be 37 on my next birthday & am dreading it, too. wish there were platitudes I could offer that wouldn't be more insulting, annoying or useless than they would be helpful. But I wanted to say "I hear you" and "you are not alone." Now for a few of those empty platitudes: It's only a number. Your chances are no appreciably lower today than they were yesterday. Women 37 and over have success all the time. Think positive. Etc etc etc. That being said, I hope you have a great birthday and all the best in the year to come!

(((HUGS))) I totally understand.  I have been at this four years during which I've graduated to AMA. When I started I was 34, and I was sure I'd have a kid by now.  The great thing is that you are still very much within the window age-wise of this all being so very possible. You're already getting help and being proactive.  Some women our age don't even know what an RE is.  When I get down about the age stuff, I try to remind myself that I'm doing everything I can do to get this done and as long as each day I'm staying the course, there is nothing else I can do.  

Remember, 37 is only one day older than 36 and 364 days. It's not like you've jumped a whole category overnight - it's more gradual than that as far as biological aging goes. I try to remember that each day, I am getting closer to isolating and solving the problems...and, on good days, that keeps me optimistic.  I don't know if any of this helps...but just know that you are not alone and I totally get it.

First of all happy birthday!!!! I hope you get to do something fun, and that your DH spoils you rotten! As PP said, this is just one day's difference, and nothing dramatic has changed since yesterday. You're 40 days older than me, and I've been thinking of myself as 37 for months with a similar sense of doom and gloom. But try to remember (like I try) that lots of women much older than you and I have been successful, so this shouldn't do anything to your hopes of success. Yes, increasing age is correlated with increased difficulties, but that's across a population, and doesn't say anything about you and your lady parts. They haven't changed since yesterday, I promise.

Toss out the pessimism and go buy yourself a birthday gift! You've had a bad year at 36, so 37 is going to be awesome!!!!

Everyone has already covered the important stuff - ie, there's no real difference between yesterday and today, fertility-wise. So look at this birthday as what it really is: just the beginning of another year of kicking ass and generally being awesome. You're old enough to be wise, but still young enough to be faster than everyone who's smarter than you. Enjoy it!

Happy Birthday!! I'm 37 too so I understand how you're feeling...with that being said, 36 kinda sucked for me and it seems for you too (fertility wise) so 37 has GOT to be better, right?!? I'm sure you will end up saying 37 was your best year ever!

And here I am, wishing I were just turning 37, but 38 is not too far around the corner for me. Some days, I kick myself when I think of all of the years TTC naturally, and denying that it was time for medical intervention... but that doesn't do any good.  It's better to just be glad that you didn't wait any longer to see an RE, and that you're doing everything that you can now.

Happy Birthday!

I can't relate to being 37, since I have long time to get there, but every year on my bday, i feel sad that i am getting older, but happy that I have lived to see another year. and age is just a number.  My DH doesnt know his real date of birth, since his parent never kept a copy. According to his DOB he will be 31 this year but in reality he would have just turned 30. His sister is few months older than me but according to her DOB she is 2 years younger.

34 was very hard for me this year.  The best advice I can give you is put your head down and plow through the day.  It's just one day and the next day is easier.

Today someone asked me how old I was.  I had to pause cause I'd forgotten if I'd turned 34 yet.  (My birthday was in july).  The birthday hurts, but once it passes,  you forget about the stupid number.  I still feel about 25.
