Cloth Diapering

Win a Diaper Mule Service!

Hey everyone -- I was thinking since I'm heading back to the US in early September that I might be able to bring a few extra diapers with me, for anyone who has been eyeing some of the hard/impossible-to-get-in-the-US diapers. I only have a little extra space, so I was thinking I would just hold a little lottery. Here's how it works:
  • To enter, post a book recommendation in this thread. It could be an old favorite of yours, or something you enjoy with your child(ren). Or maybe it's something you've read more recently that left an impression. If you can't think of anything, tell me about a book that you're planning to read in the near future. Tell me why I need to borrow this book from the library or add it to my personal library!
  • Deadline to enter is midnight Eastern Time on Thursday, August 21.
  • On Friday I'll draw two winners at random.
  • Winners will have the weekend to figure out what diapers or covers they want. I'll bring back as many as two diapers/covers per winner. Winners send me money via Paypal for the diapers -- hopefully if what everyone wants is available from the same vendor, we can save on shipping. If I can place the order by Tuesday or Wednesday of next week that should allow plenty of time for the diapers to get to me before I travel.
  • I will cover the cost of shipping in the UK (if any) and shipping in the U.S.
Keep in mind that if you decide to enter this lottery, the current exchange rate is about 1.00 GBP to 1.66 USD.

A few of the websites that I've ordered from or may order from in the future:

I'm open to ordering from other vendors as well.

  • Hmmm...have you thought about expanding it to include Cadbury's chocolate?  UK Cadburys is 100x better than US Cadburys.
(We're travelling to England soon to visit family, I know a fair amount of the free space in our luggage will be used to shuttle Cadbury's and HobNobs.
  • My favorite book of all time is A Prayer for Owen Meany by John Irving. It's been several years since I last read it (I used to read it about once a year) but I've never had a book stick with me so much before.

  • I'm just here for the book recs.  I just finished the strain trilogy.  The first 2 were good, the third was awful.  Off to look at ^ that one.

  • I read a lot of epic fantasy. Books I read over and over again, though, are the Anne of green gables books and the all creatures great and small books. Love love love them.

  • One of my favorite books is The Alchemist by Paolo Coelho. It's a quick read with lots of symbolism. For kids' books I like the Click, Clack, Moo...Cows That Type series because it's fun & clever.

I agree with @Kelly11235 on the chocolate. Before kids, DH & I would bring about 50 lbs back from Finland after visiting the ILs. It would last us almost the 6 months until another trip if we rationed it. :-)

Chocolate is significantly heavier than fluff .... and I would worry about it getting too warm during shipping, so I gotta say no. Sorry.

So are you entering or not? That wasn't exactly a ringing endorsement for the Strain trilogy ...

No, it was not an endorsement for the trilogy at all.  I guess I was just talking to hear myself talk.  Let's see.  Oh!  I got it!  The greatest book I have ever read is The Story of Edgar Sawtelle.  Consider me entered.

  • I could recommend books for days. I have a book problem, if such a thing exists. I really love Rainbow Rowell's books. Her young adult and adult titles are equally smart and hilarious.

Can you please be more specific?

Author? I notice several of the same titles on Amazon by different authors.
  • Paulo coelho. Someone mentioned it further up thread. His other books are good too. Mystical realism kind of like Isabelle Allende

  • also The House of Scorpion and The Lord of Opium by Nancy Farmer. I really don't think I need diapers I can't get in the US, but I do love good books.

  • If you like fantasy, check out the Iron Druid series by Kevin Hearne.  It's an excellent series.
