Taking a bath where i am propped up, but still stretched out helps me tons. 20 minutes, warm water, etc. Drinking warm water helps too, but i've definitely found that my stomach hates the nighttime!! I hope you feel better
Prilosec is not allowed with my OB. Zantac max strength 2x day was working, but it got worse than that. Now I'm on an RX (protonix), which has been a life saver. But mine was 24/7 and making me pukey. Otherwise Zantac is awesome.
Mine was 24/7 too, it was the worst thing ever. Never experienced choking on stomach acid before. Asked my doc about zantac, hubby picked up regular strength 75 mg 12 hour relief.....changed my life. Seriously recommended. Tried all the home remedies nothing was working, I was desperate for relief. 1 dose is lasting almost 24 hrs so I only take it when I first feel the acid rising. Then it never gets out of hand and I'm not taking it unnecessarily. Def try it!

Acid reflex is totally a pregnancy thing. It's when someone makes one of those stupid comments to a pregnant woman and she goes off on them.
As for the reflux, it may sound strange but eating an apple helps me the most. I have no idea why.
Other than that a glass of milk or some tums and being propped up are the best I can do. I've had to cut way back on fried/greasy foods because they are definitely triggers for me. I had some delicious onion rings yesterday and only got to eat half of them because I could feel it starting.

As someone with GERD pre-pregnancy, I've spent a long time figuring out how to control this and pills alone won't do it. You HAVE to modify your diet. Triggers are different for everyone but for me what worked was:
*cut out all coffee and soda (especially in the late afternoon onward)
*no eating within 3 hours of bedtime (if you need a pregnancy snack, a crunchy granola bar or something similarly carby and small works)
*limit or eliminate fatty foods in the evening
*limit or eliminate tomato-based and other acidic foods, especially in the evening
*limit portion sizes; overeating is the enemy - I weigh how much I want more of something with how bad it will make me feel later. I usually stop eating.
I also sleep with 2 pillows under my head and lay on my side (doctors say left side is better for controlling reflux, I've found my right to be better at that). Also, meds. I was on some great stuff before getting pregnant but my go-to right now is actually the Walmart brand Antacid/Antigas chewable tablets. The key thing is it HAS to have the simethicone (anti-gas). Regular old Tums (antacid alone) don't work for me.

Liquid antacids helped me through my first pregnancy but this time my doctor prescribed Zantac. I agree with all these mommies about what to try but if they don't hall don't suffer talk to your doctor
I am on protonix - I was getting heartburn nightly and it was keeping me up ... I still get it sometimes depending on what I eat - I can not eat a few hours before bed or anything spicy/fried.
I was getting it bad as well. So much so that it was making me throw up. My doctor told me to take Zantac 150 each morning and night and I haven't had it since!
Dietary changes can help, but I find with pregnancy, if may not do enough. I would start with Tums and other instant acid relievers to see if that helps. They can provide instant relief if you just have occasional heartburn. If that doesn't work after a few days, try taking Zantac once to twice a day.
For me, tums and zantac didn't do the trick, so I switched to taking Previcid (category once a day, in the morning. It doesn't provide instant relief - it is a long-term acid reducer. It can take 24 hours to 4 days to work. It's helped me tremendously - I was barely able to eat before, and now I can eat relatively normally.
I'm sorry you are in pain and I truly sympathize but all I could think of when I saw the title is Duran Duran.... The Reflex!! People like @lisaren can relate!
I have it bad and did everything. Ate tums like they were going out of style. I take the generic Prilosec time released and it's amazing!!!! I ran out a couple days ago and just about died today.
Like @love4science I also have had acid reflux since before pregnancy. I agree with a lot of her points, eating smaller meals and not eating close to bed I think are good suggestions for anyone. It was a bit of trial and error for me to figure out what foods triggered it, I discovered that spicy foods or tomato based foods could do it but also food with cinnamon or spinach in it aggravates my stomach. I had to try a lot of different medications before I settled on Zegerid, so you may have to test it out to see what works for you - it's definitely important to note that not all acid reflux medications are safe during pregnancy. DH has it also so for awhile we had some books under our mattress to prop it up to a slight angle when we slept. Hope you find something that works for you!
I have lived with acid reflux for years. It was a daily thing for me (starting around 10am every day!) no matter what I ate or did. My doctor prescribed Prilosec, and a couple years later when I got pregnant the first time my doctor told me to go ahead and continue taking it. Around 3rd trimester I started to continue to get it at night, waking me up even. Tums on the nightstand usually helped me.
This time around, due to different insurance, I am taking Prevacid, which is actually a better class drug for pregnant. Same thing, now that I am in 3rd tri (or close to it...?) I am getting some occasional acid reflux at night.
I took Prilosec nearly every day of my pregnancy with my son, and he's a bright, intelligent, happy boy! I was so sure I'd get a baby with acid reflux, but he rarely spit up. (Except the brief time we battled my oversupply when nursing.)
