TTC after 35

Fertility Friend question

Hi all,

This may be a dumb question, but I just started using Fertility Friend within the last month. When I see other charts on here, I see red cross hairs indicating ovulation. How do you get the cross hairs?

Re: Fertility Friend question

  • You'll get them after FF thinks you O'd. So temping is to confirm ovulation (I'm sure you know that), with 3 temps higher than the previous 6.
    Does that help?
  • Thank you!

You appear to have ovulated and would typically get cross hairs after one more high temp, ff has no charts to compare to right now since it's your first cycle so it will be conservative with a mark.  However, your open circles (?temp took earlier/later) will also confuse ff and make it take longer to indicate ovulation.
  • I'm on my third month of temping, and the first month FF took forever to show me the cross-hairs.

Have you tried taking away the time stamp (so that it thinks the temperature was morning, i.e. reliable)?

Do you know your cycle length? My guess is that you ovulated on CD 12 or 13, but I'm basing that on the pre-ovulatin temp dip, which I definitely get, but not everyone does.
  • I'm not sure why some of those temps are circles... Most days, I'm taking it at 5 am or so. The only time this isn't true is on the weekends. Yet done of the ones showing circles are definitely around 5 am, although I'm inputing it like an hoir later & changing the time stamp.

My cycle is usually 28-30 days, occasionally shorter or longer.

  • I got a positive opk on CD13, so should that mean I ovulated around cd14 or 15?

  • It looks like you ovulated on CD15, but you may even get your crosshairs before you read this message.

I ovulate either a day or two days after my positive OPK.

  • I see crosshairs on CD13! My guess is you ovulated late on that day.
  • Yea, it is strange because the only real thing indicating that I was close to ovulating was the positive OPK. Weird...maybe as I do it more, it will get better.

  • FF will only tell you you have ovulated after it detects three high temps in a row, i.e. it doesn't have the ability to predict ovulation beyond giving you averages over time. Since past performance is no guarantee of future (egg) returns, our best bet to pinpoint ovulation seems to be a combination of an OPK and charting. In other words, you're doing everything right!
