1 year old meal plan / schedule

My girls just turned 1 last week and I am trying to work out a new meal plan for them. I'm one of those people who does not do well without a plan and I wanted to see what others thought of mine & what they do with their kids. This is what I had in mind for them, does this look good? And what did/does your one year olds schedule and meals look like? Thanks!

8 breakfast  oatmeal & fruit, egg & bread, pancake & fruitc etc.

9-10 nap

1-230/3 nap

3 snack serving of fruit and cheese, or fruit and puffs or cheerios etc

Re: 1 year old meal plan / schedule

  • I might not be as helpful as when my LOs were one years old we were still lagging a little behind because things with triplets just took a little longer. This was our schedule:

When they got-up around 8am we did a breakfast which consisted of jarred fruits and baby cereal. At 1030 they got their bottle and napped from 11-1300. When they got up again a mixture of jarred foods (meat and veg), bottle at 3-ish, small nap from 4-4:30, supper of jarred meat, veg and fruits, last bottle at 7:30 and off to bed.

2 things I want to emphasize: 1) we did something with each meal that they could eat on their own (banana, cereal, puffs ect), 2) we gave sippy cups through out the day with water to work on transitioning to them

    Your schedule looks ok. GL

  • Looks about right from when DD was 1. I second the sippy of water. We started hers when she was about 7-8 months-ish, but then it was mostly playing with it. I miss those days when she would put anything in front of her. Now it's a struggle to get her to eat much of anything.

They have been getting sippy cups with water the last month or so. I worry about them getting enough milk because they aren't great at drinking from them, the take a sip or two and usually throw them on the floor! I'm not sure if I should give them time to get adjusted to the new milk and food schedule or just try and go cold turkey from the bottles? We are having another baby towards the end of October and I'd really like them to be off the bottle by then.

  • When we started the sippy she was still on bottles. Id say about 11 months we were down to 2 bottles (night and morning) with the rest of her milk in the cup. Then a week after she turned 1 she was done with bottles.

For DD the bigger adjustment of all was no bottles (as opposed to new milk and real food). I definitely worried about her milk intake, and she would always drink less than the recommended amount but my pedi said as long as she was gaining weight she was fine. Plus I gave her lots of yogurt (and still do). She also drinks almond milk instead of white cows milk.
