FTT and adenoids

My son was classified as failure to thrive, and when the EI consultants came out to do his evaluation, they noted right away that he breathes heavily exclusively through his mouth, which could definitely be obstructing his airway and causing him not to want to eat.  We're waiting on an x-ray prescription from the ENT, who also told us that even with the sinus infection he had last week, his tonsils are definitely enlarged.  However, he's really hesitant to do the surgery to remove both because my son is only 17 months old.

Anyone else's child have enlarged adenoids?  What was the treatment?

Re: FTT and adenoids

  • ugh, I'm sorry to hear that about your son.  It's so frustrating knowing something's wrong but not knowing what or how to fix it.

  • Baby boy needs surgery.  His adenoids are completely obstructing his nasal passages.  He's going to have a tonsillectomy as well.  Glad we have a diagnosis, but not super happy about my little man needing surgery.
