TTC After a Loss

~*~June Check-In~*~

Happy Tuesday ladies!  I will be taking over this check-in from @jbasore1123, who was an excellent check-in leader and I hope to live up to the challenge.  I know I've only been back for a couple weeks, so please forgive me for asking stupid questions while I get to know you.

This is a weekly check-in for women who have suffered the loss of an angel with an EDD in June, no matter what the year.  You are welcome to join us, just post an intro including your EDD and the information below:

Where are you in your TTCAL journey/cycle, etc? Any updates/appointments you'd like to share?

**************************

Good luck to all of you!! If you leave for PGAL, please send me a PM so we can all congratulate you. If you are taking a bump break, please do the same!

 June Bugs:

@CheesyPeas 6/15/2011 - Welcome to the check-in!  How are you doing this week?

@MrsG80inTN 6/4/2014- When's your first monitoring appointment?

@sunflwra 6/5/2014 loss date - We've missed you!  How are you doing?

@kittymeowbark 6/21/2014- How's the TWW treating you?  You're temps look wonderful!

@newfmom7 6/27/2014- I’m so sorry AF showed, how are you doing this week? What’s the plan for this cycle?

@towncargirl 6/27/2014- I'm sorry that AF showed up a week late.  I've had that happen and it really is a MF!  What's the plan for this cycle?  I think a puppy would be very therapeutic for you!  (Of course, I'm not the one who would have to take care of it, so it's easy for me to love the idea.)

If your name is missing from above, please let me know and post an update. Some are not included as we have not heard from you in many weeks.

  • @rmpar29 - thanks so much for taking over the check-in.  You're awesome.  How are you feeling???

AFM - my first monitoring appt is on Friday at 830... My HCG shot should arrive tomorrow (I fought with my insurance company and it is now going to be at least partly covered - wahoo!).  Other than that - I'm trying to stay sane at work which is not really happening sadly.

  • Good Morning Ladies!

Thank you for the check-in @rmpar29 - How are you doing?

This TWW is a little easier, since we just purchased a puppy and I am planning for his arrival. All of my brain power has been directed to researching all I need to know about a puppy. We pick him up next Thursday.  Don't get me wrong, I still can't wait to POAS!!!

QOTW: Any last minute summer plans?

Nope. Our summer has officially wrapped up. I go back to school next week. Sigh :-<

@rmpar29, thanks for running this check in!  Hope you're doing well.

@MrsG80inTN, good luck!  I'm glad that insurance is going to provide some coverage so there's a little less financial stress on top of all the other stress!

@kittymeowbark, how exciting that you're getting a new puppy!  What kind is he?  And FX for a BFP this week!

AFM: Not much new.  I think I'm about to ovulate (TTA cycle), so I'm anxious to see what the next week or two bring.  How long is my LP going to hold out this time...

QOTW: No plans.  Just same old same old.

    November 2010 - 10.5 week loss  o:)
    October 2011 - DS (7)  <3
    July 2014 - Stillborn DD (24 weeks)  o:)
    August 2015 - DD (3)  <3
    April 2018 - 5 week loss o:)

  • @MrsG80inTN - Hey girl!  Thanks for the vote of confidence!  I hope that your monitoring appointment goes well and shows many follies growing!  I'm glad that your insurance is covering your HCG.  I forgot...what do you do that has you so insane?

@kittymeowbark - What kind of puppy did you get?  Have you had one before?  I am a seasoned dog owner and used to foster dogs for the SPCA, so free feel to ask me questions.  I hope the rest of your TWW flies by!

AFM:  I'm just still hanging out.  I'm 2 weeks into my first BCP pack and I can honestly say that I'm enjoying my little TTC break.  Not having to take my temp every day and analyze CM and try to BD at the right time...a break is much needed after 2 years and 2 losses.  I'm sure I will be ready to TTC once these couple cycles are up though.

  • @CheesyPeas - Do you normally have a short LP, or is this something new after your loss?

QOTW - How sad is it that I forgot to answer my own question???  This weekend I have a wedding that I am coordinating for my church, so I run the rehearsal on Friday and then be there for the wedding on Saturday.  Next weekend, I have a memorial service for my grandma (dad's mom) that passed in December and then we are escaping to Niagara Falls for the weekend.  I hope we have good weather!  It's been awful cold around these parts lately!

  • @rmpar29 - I manage operations, training, and customer experience elements for an auto company's division of telematics (think OnStar type product, but for a different brand)... We are in the midst of some launches and of course since I deal with customer experience I get at least 1-2 hot customer issues a day that have to be handled.

@kittymeowbark - we need puppy pictures!!!!!

@cheesypeas - hope that your cycle is able to provide insight into what all is going on with your body :-)

  • @rmpar29 -- He is a silver Labrador and he will be 10 weeks old when he arrives. Pic below.

Do you have any advice on how to introduce my cats to him? I learned not to force the interaction and to give the cats their own space, which we will do. We have one brave cat and one skittish cat. I am just worried my cat's will not like the new baby gates we are installing. They might have to jump over the gates to get into the rooms, and my cats dont like anything that requires them to work.

  • @kittymeowbark - he's toooooooo cute!!!!  So much fun.  I know for us it helped to introduce them when our dog was still littler than the cat.  We just let them be and see how things went.  Our cat took a while to warm up but now chases the dog around the house a bunch!

  • @MrsG80inTN - Yes, that does sound insane!  Good luck with the launches and I hope for fewer customer issues!

@kittymeowbark - I would start by having a  closed door with the kitties on one side and the puppy on the other.  That gives them both a chance to smell each other before seeing each other.  Wait a while and then gives the cats the opportunity to come see the puppy, but have the puppy on a leash so you can pull him away if a confrontation starts.  The kitties will always need a place to go to get away from the puppy and vise versa.  I would get a crate for the puppy that's his and the kitties are not allowed in it so he can escape too.  (I know all of this is easier said than done.)  With a puppy so young, he should allow the kitties to be "alpha" and you shouldn't have any issues with dominance, but the puppy may get swatted a few times - let it happen.  The puppy needs to learn boundaries.  Just make sure they all have their own place where their food/water/bedding is that they can go to if they are feeling overwhelmed and don't leave them alone together until you are confidant they are getting along.

  • @kittymeowbark - And....OMG, he is adorable!!!  Does he have a name yet?  Also, as the puppy gets bigger you could cut holes in the gates big enough for the cats.  That's the way our gate is....then we inherited my mom's smaller dog that can fit through it.    :-?

  • @rmpar29, the short LPs have been a constant since DS was born in October 2011 (or rather after my cycles returned in October 2012).  I didn't chart before my first loss, so I'm not sure what they looked like at that point in time.  After my first loss, I only charted my D&C cyle and one cycle post D&C before I got my BFP with DS; my LP the cycle before my BFP was 11 days, so not bad.  While TTC Layla though, my LP was consistently between 8 and 10 days.  I got an 11th day with spotting a time or two with progesterone but not even the progesterone could hold AF off any longer than that.  So yeah, I'm sure I"m in for more short LPs but I do have this hope that maybe my pregnancy with Layla "reset" things a bit and things won't be as ugly as before.  Wishful thinking I'm sure but I'll hang on to that until my body slaps me in the face.

  • @kittymeowbark, he is so cute!  I want puppy snuggles now.  My dog is way too big to cuddle these days.

@MrsG80inTN, I actually work in the telematics space in my job too!  I work for an insurance company though, and thankfully I'm not among the group that has to handle customer issues directly.  I do hear about it a lot though, so I can imagine how stressful that can get.

  • @kittymeowbark He's adorable!!!

We don't have a plan for this cycle at all. Its one of those things where we aren't trying but we aren't preventing. My hours just got cut at my job so both a baby and a puppy aren't the best idea until I know whats going to happen with work.

QOTW- We have our final wedding for the summer on saturday. It's my hubby's cousin (the older brother to the cousin that passed away on what was our EDD) So everyone is getting together for that and are planning on spending as much time together as possible its going to be a really emotional few days.

  • Sorry for the delayed response ladies. Work had me all over the place.

@MrsG80inTN -- Thanks for the advice. Sounds like you have a very busy house...lol

@rmpar29 -- Thanks for the advice. His name is Hobbes (from Calvin and Hobbes)  We will definitely introduce him to the cats through the door and then the gate. We do plan on crate training. Oh boy, I am in for some "fun" for the next month

@CheesyPeas -- I am sure your big puppy would snuggle with you, If not feel free to come to NYC for puppy snuggles anytime :)

@towncargirl -- Thank you! Hope you enjoy the wedding!
