I hate the panic when you're looking for LO.

Little miss Winnie disappeared one day.  I found her in the front yard.  She had gone out the dog door.  I swear I was only distracted for like two seconds!  #littleshit

@MarisaKathleen‌ you mentioning your sitter reminded me about how she wanted to stop over at your house to talk a few weeks back. What was that all about?
Her son got caught looking at porn on the school issued iPad. And, since he's at the same school as the 2 girls who are on trial for trying to murder their "friend" due to the fictional Slenderman character, the school got involved really quickly.  The police were called since it's school property, so she wanted us to be aware of it.

It didn't seem like a big deal to DH and I since he was looking up the Kim Kardashian sex tape on youtube.  He's a 13y/o boy.  That seems pretty typical to us.  Why he'd be dumb enough to look that up on a SCHOOL ISSUED I PAD is beyond me, but yea.  She was really upset and wanted us to be aware of it.

I just made us an individual pizza on one of those Boboli crusts for lunch. Only after I'd put it in the oven did I realize it says use by 8/5. It smelled and tasted fine. Hopefully we don't end up sick!

@MarisaKathleen‌ Thanks for the update! Yes, not smart to look at it on the school iPad, but also not surprising given his age.

Hopefully, she comes to her senses and doesn't move, so you won't have to find a new sitter.

At DS new school, there is a lottery for Spanish Immersion where the Kindergartners are put into a lottery (if parents choose) to potentially be selected to learn in both Spanish and English from K-5th grade.  I wanted DS in this so bad and he didn't get in but the little girl next door to us who was barely allowed in Kindergarten (her parents begged because her bday is 9/8 and the cutoff is 9/1) got in it.  I'm irrationally annoyed and jealous about this.

This also relates to my the fact that I also feel I have failed my kids by not speaking to them in Spanish because I'm not extremely confident in my own Spanish speaking skills (I got my BA in Translation 15 years ago...).  I was hoping he would get in in and learn while I brushed up with him.  Mom fail all around.

Nancy's sitter had her thyroid removed about a month ago.  I think it's caused her to become completely irrational.

They live in a side by side townhouse.  The guy next door has 2 kids and they're there every other weekend.  The older kid (5) took his wagon handle and destroyed the side of our sitter's van.  Like holy crap, it's awful looking. Estimate came in at $2300 to fix it.  Guy admitted fault because the kid said he did it.  The insurance company is refusing to pay for it because no one saw him do it even though he said he did it.

I'm sure you don't know nor care to get involved any more, but did they try through the neighbor's rental/homeowner's insurance since it happened in the garage? Or use her insurance and have him pick up the deductible.

Yup!  The guy gave them his insurance, and it's his insurance that's denying it.  My logical comment was "well then why doesn't he just give you the $500 deductible so you can file it on your own insurance" but they're worried their rate will go up.  Apparently if they have more than $5,000 in claims for the year, it *could* go up, and it's only August, so they don't want to risk it since the estimate is already almost 1/2 of that total.

For their home owner's/rental insurance? Are they really that worried about another claim?

I went to bed at 9:30 last night and slept until 9am. I've been soooo tired lately but I'm getting at least 7.5 hours of sleep a night. I don't know what my deal is.

In a moment of complete impracticality, I bought DH and LO matching blue adidas sneakers to wear for DS' birthday party. I have no idea why I thought I should do that, but it's done and over with. And it's going to look cute, right?!?!?

    this sounds really cute :)

Yikes, if I were her I'd file a claim with the police.  If the neighbor isn't lying about what happened, and they write up a report saying that the 5yo caused the damage, his insurance would have to pay for it.

Note to self, lie to insurance company about a witness if kid damages car.

I visited my friend and her new bambino on Saturday.  She asked what names I had in mind.  I laughed and told her she wouldn't like them because our styles are very different, then she begged me to tell.  Yah..... she was like, "omg you have to keep looking those are awful."  I said uh, no we aren't looking, the kid will get one of those names.  She shook her head.  Hahaha.  FWIW, I think her kids have awful names.  I would never tell her that though......

@hmp1, she's filing against their car insurance, not their renters.  the deductible on their renters is $1K and the neighbor won't pay that.  He said he'd pay the $500 deductible for their car insurance.  I don't understand the worry since she said neither of them have had any claims at all since 2005, so yea.  It's just odd.

I'm grumpy and emotional. I was induced with DS at 38 1/2 weeks so I guess i'm just not used to this pregnancy end waiting game. I have been sick with a cold/cough thing for 13 days today (day 4 of antibiotics) and I am just so uncomfortable and done. It takes NOTHING for me to just cry and cry at the drop of a hat.

I feel stupid bc I know it's totally feasable that I can go a week or more past my due date, and I still have 4 days left until my due date is even here, but by golly I am an emotional wreck.

Really, it's being sick AND being pregnant that's killing me. I mean..13 days now? Really???

    Aggie (Agnes) Marilyn
    Gertie (Gertrude) Marilyn

I obviously like names from a certain time period..... the age of the Winnies and other adorable names, IMO. :-p

Yah, I'm not surprised she hated them, at all. They are a very specific taste. I am however surprised she was so vocal about it.

I'm not telling any family the name until the baby is here because I know they don't understand my love for old names. They HATED Winnie until a few months later when Jimmy Fallon named his daughter the same, haha. I hope someone famous follows suit this time :)

THT I think every one of your names is adorable, and some were contenders for us. I'm going to go ahead and assume your friend is more of the Ma-kenslea/Braxley type person. andplusalso, who tells someone their names are awful????

@tinyhumantoe those names are great!  i love that people are bringing back older names :)

and seriously i cannot believe people who say things like those names are awful.  did they not learn in kindergarten if you don't have anything nice to say don't say anything at all!

we kept our sons name a secret mainly because we could not decide.  it was the week before when I knew i would be induced at 38 weeks that i turned to my husband and said we need to decide on a name.  we had top contenders but nothing finalized.  And of course MIL hated the name (Grant) at first and refused to call DS by his name.  she repeatedly referred to him by his middle name (Jacob).

I am sure whatever you end up picking will be perfect for your child :)

You can't file claims to a vehicle shell on your homeowners. Only the property inside of it.

She should file it to her car insurance comprehensive (collisions with non-vehicles, deer, glass breakage, etc) and call it a day. Unless she files 2+ comp claims a year she shouldn't see any increases because of it.
