We have had a number of new BFPs on the main board (yay!) this week and if you would like to join in our check-in, please do so!  If you aren't tagged in this post, please feel free to join!

Re: First Trimester Check-in (Early Edition) (8/19)

  • @footprint‌ thank you for the check-in! EDD/Week/Fruit 3.28/8w2d/raspberry I think? I'm usually on mobile and can't tell. Worries (rational or irrational) still worried that there's something wrong after that bright red spotting. It hasn't returned which has brought me some comfort. Appointments scheduled. U/s on 9/5. Still feels forever away. Upcoming milestones/Loss dates not until 12 weeks QoTW: (Stolen from another check-in) What is your favorite flower and why? I've always loved roses. I think they are beautiful and smells kind of like a raspberry to me. I did have hydrangeas in my wedding and they make me happy everytime I see them, too. On another note, the m/s has returned. Which do also another comfort. I get night sickness not m/s. Usually from 5pm until I go to bed I feel sick. I've skipped dinner on more than one occasion. I'm still down 3 lbs but I'm not complaining.
I am sorry about the spotting, but I am happy that it hasn't returned. I hated m/s so, so, much (I had it throughout the day and night) but I found so much comfort in having it. It was a weird dichotomy. I am a huge fan of roses too. I got five rose bushes for 20 bucks this year and they all bloomed! I thought maybe one or two would, since they were so inexpensive, but they all did. It was great! And I forgot about hydrangeas. They rock too!

  • Hey @footprint!  Thanks for the check-in! Hope you're doing well!

@TMaggie0424 I'm sorry about the scary bleeding, but I'm glad it hasn't returned.  9/5 will be here before you know it!

@BananaBoat05 It's so hard to remember that the lines aren't quantitative - the darkness may or may not be affected by the level of HCG in your system.  ((hugs)) and best of luck at your first appointment!

    EDD/Week/Fruit 1/25/15 - 17 weeks - Onion

Worries (rational or irrational) I hope this doesn't come across wrong.  I know I will be happy with any healthy baby, but since I have two boys already, it would be really nice to have a little girl this time around.  Everyone around us - family friends, acquaintances, etc - are all hoping we have a girl this time around.  I'm worried that, even though I'll love this baby regardless of sex, I'll be somewhat disappointed if we find it's another boy at or a/s in two weeks.  I don't know if that makes sense at all... I think it's a completely irrational fear, since I know I already love this baby so much, and will continue to love him or her for the rest of my life.

Appointments scheduled  Next appointment is 8/26, and our a/s is 9/4

Upcoming milestones/Loss dates Next milestone is when I lost my twins, but that's not until December 10th, so I've got a while.

QoTW: (Stolen from another check-in) What is your favorite flower and why? I always find it hard to choose just one favorite anything, and flowers are especially hard for me.  I love cherry blossoms for what they represent (the fleetingness of life, etc.), my wedding flowers were tulips and gerbera daisies, DH grows orchids, I love hydrangeas and gladiolus.  Good ol' fashioned roses are always good, too :D

  • Hi ladies. I would love to join the check in! First tri PgAL is a doozy! EDD/Week/Fruit 4/24, week 4, poppyseed Worries (rational or irrational) I'm cramping a lot today so I'm trying so hard to not let it freak me out. My wondfo looks about the same from 15dpo to 17dpo (today) so that has me stressed too. Appointments scheduled First confirmatory appt and beta draw tomorrow Upcoming milestones/Loss dates I've got a few weeks til my loss date with my first pg and a few more until my loss date with my third pg. QoTW: (Stolen from another check-in) What is your favorite flower and why? Columbine. I'm from CO and love them.
Welcome! Congrats on your BFP! First tri is a doozy on PgAL brain. It ishard. One suggestion, don't compare the darkness of HPTs. Wait for your betas. Peeing on Wondfos will make you crazy and is in no way conclusive. Now, I love peeing on stuff -- in fact, tonight, at 14 weeks, I peed on a OPK! Just for fun. Just stay with the fact that today you are pregnant and you love your baby. What helped me a lot in the early weeks of first tri was to NOT google things and to trust Fx for great betas!  I think columbines are my second favorite flower. I love how beautiful and functional they are! My garden is filled with them.

I think it makes perfect sense that you would want to experience being a parent to a girl. Everyone has preferences, whether they admit it to themselves or not, and being honest about it seems a lot healthier than denying and repressing. Of course this could start a huge shit storm but whatever. Obviously you will love your child regardless of sex.
Every time someone responds with a flower, I'm like, ooh, I like, those too. I do love tulips. I love how they smell. I wish they held up a bit better. It seems like they bloom and as soon as it rains, they die.

Hi! Sorry to hear about the back pains and cramps. Both of those are usually normal during pregnancy, but man, can they throw your PgAL brain into a tizzy.

Orchids are really pretty, but the care the need scares me away from them!

  • Hi Ladies! New here, and just hoping I get to stick around long enough to get to know you all!

    EDD/Week/Fruit
I believe this is my last day as an apple seed, and I think I'm turning to a sweet pea tomorrow. It's a little hard to do the math because this was a FET, and my betas started out very low, indicating that I might be behind schedule, but I **think** EDD would be April 15th (a new little tax deduction for us!!)

    Worries (rational or irrational)
I posted about this before, but I had a bleed over the weekend and went from two sacs to one. Nurse wasn't 100% confident the other was a sac, so it might have just been a pocket of blood. Terrified, of course, that the other sac won't stick around. This was a genetically screened embryo, so the chances of a m/c are much lower, so I'm trying to hold onto that as well as how good it looked yesterday on the u/s.

    Appointments scheduled
Next u/s is the 25th and we should see the heartbeat. After that the m/c risk is very low, although we saw a heartbeat with my last loss (a bit slower than it should have been).

    Upcoming milestones/Loss dates
Longest I've ever made it in pregnancy is 8 weeks, but things started to look bad on scans before. I guess I'll say the 8 week point is scary, also because we'll graduate from the RE to an obgyn like normal people. :)

QoTW: (Stolen from another check-in) What is your favorite flower and why?
I love columbines, too! Apparently this group has great tastes in flowers. ;-) First of all, they're beautiful. But I also love how delicate they look while thriving in some of the harshest mountain terrain. You know you want a picture:

  • Re POAS - I started a new game. I was initially POAS first thing in the morning, but it seemed like I had pretty much maxed out the capacity of the Wondfo tests. Over the weekend, when I had the scary bleed, I started POAS with the most dilute urine I had all day--like almost entirely clear. It was very satisfying to see a blaring positive, darker than the control line, with that! I think I'm going to try it next after I've drank an entire liter of water!

    EDD/Week/Fruit - April 1, 7w6d, blueberry

Worries (rational or irrational) - afraid my baby has stopped growing since this is about the time it happened the last time. I still have sore/enlarged boobs and still have off an on cramping so as long as those symptoms continue I believe I am in good shape. I will feel much better on Friday when I see that little hb!

Appointments scheduled - first prenatal including transvaginal u/s on Friday. Very anxious about this appt and my sister will be going with me for support since DH is out of the country. Upcoming milestones/Loss dates - If I get past my u/s at 8+2 on Friday I believe this will be the furthest we have come. Going to talk to the doc to see if my past genetic testing results are in my record so we may be able to determine the sex of the baby we lost - it haunts me that I don't know.

QoTW: (Stolen from another check-in) What is your favorite flower and why? I have always had a soft spot for plumerias - they are absolutely beautiful and they smell amazing.

    Edited for fomatting
  • @footprint, thank you for the check in! I managed to go to the doctor after I arrived back in town, and of course, the pain was starting to feel better. She said that the diminishing of symptoms is normal, and the stretching/sore pain that I was feeling is normal, as everything is growing inside. She did a quick abdominal ultrasound for our peace of mind, and we saw the gummi bear hanging out and doing flips! So much relief!

Get ready for a boring one! Not much to tell this week, thank goodness!

    EDD/Week/Fruit-
    March 8, 2015/11 weeks/LIME!!!

Worries (rational or irrational)- at this point, I don't have too many fears, as I just had an ultrasound. No worries as of yet... but I know more will come.

Appointments scheduled- We have our 12 week NT scan next Thursday, the 28th at 8am! We are super super excited for this one! Once we leave an everything looks good, I'll be telling everyone :-)

Upcoming milestones/Loss dates- We passed the loss date a while ago, I guess the big milestone, is getting pass the 1st trimester in the next couple of weeks!!

QoTW: (Stolen from another check-in) What is your favorite flower and why? I have many, I LOVE lillies and tulips! They are so pretty! I think I may go get some today actually ;-)

  • EDD/Week/Fruit: 4/20/2015 (or so), around 5.5 weeks
Worries (rational or irrational): I am pretty nervous this time about birth defects. I have to stay on a medication that has some risk and DS2 was born with an enlarged kidney so I already had a higher chance of having a baby with issues. I will probably do all of the genetic testing so we are prepared just in case.
Appointments scheduled: I have my first appointment and dating ultrasound on September 3rd! I have an appointment with my therapist on the same day because I know its going to be a very stressful day. I am excited to actually have a due date!

Worries (rational or irrational)  My worry this week is not PgAL...I'm seriously, for the first time in my life, worried that I'm going to get fired.  I have this project that I've totally screwed and it just keeps coming back to bite me and everytime a new request comes up related to it...I mess it up.  I'm sure my boss is wondering how I've gotten such great reviews in the past...since I'm f'ing up so much right now.  She knows I have a lot going on personally, but it really doesn't matter...this project needs to be right.  I'm gone so far as putting in my resume for another job at another company...

Appointments scheduled my 16w will be 9/9!

    Upcoming milestones/Loss dates...no more!

QoTW: (Stolen from another check-in) What is your favorite flower and why?  I'm really partial to the Dahlias my father in law gave me for my garden.  they are just such a beautiful, happy flower.

  • @footprint I've been doing a bit better with the migraines. Thanks! :)

EDD/Week/Fruit 3.14.15/10w3d/kumkwat (what the heck is that)

Worries (rational or irrational) I'm feeling like something is terribly wrong the past few days. I couldn't take it anymore and emailed my OB yesterday, and his nurse called me back last night. Not sure why I'm freaking out, but I've just half convinced myself that something is terribly wrong. It's dreadful

Appointments scheduled I am going in tomorrow for a quick u/s to make sure all is well, and then we have our 12 week appt & u/s on the 27th (a few days shy of 12 weeks, but it was that or wait a week and a half longer)

Upcoming milestones/Loss dates Getting out of 1st tri is my next big milestone... after that I think I'll be able to relax some. 2.5 more weeks!

QoTW: (Stolen from another check-in) What is your favorite flower and why?
I LOVE Gerbera Daisies and Orchids. The daisies just look happy and always brighten my day, and orchids because my grandfather grew them and they remind me of him. (I have one sitting in my office window) Truthfully, I have always been that girl who said "I don't like flowers" because I hated that guys bought flowers because they felt obligated. My favorite flowers, now, are ones my husband buys me just because. It's only happened 2-3 times, but those flowers are always the most beautiful because they're simply because he wanted to get me flowers, not because it's a holiday or something.
  • @footprint Thanks for the check in! I am doing good. Still only using the Doppler twice a week. My anxiety is lessening (a bit) since I am starting to feel little movements.

Not sure if I still get to play since I am out of the 1st tri, but here is my info anyway ;)

    EDD/Week/Fruit
    2.12.15/14w5d/Lemon

    Worries (rational or irrational)
Not related to PGAL but going back to work. We had work done on the house. Two rooms still need to be painted. Not sure when it will all get done, but I know it will. DH is willing to help but he tends to take short cuts. We spent so much already that I want it done right (flameworthy I know)

    Appointments scheduled
A/s scheduled for 9/5. I'll only be 17 weeks but my OB assured that it was fine. She told me to schedule it then.

    Upcoming milestones/Loss dates
We discovered she passed at the a/s (18w). I know I will be a mess that day waiting for the appt. I am sure I will be using the Doppler that day! I wish I could have scheduled the appt for the morning, but there is no way I could take off the first week of school.

QoTW: (Stolen from another check-in) What is your favorite flower and why?
I love all flowers. If I had to choose just one it would be coneflowers. I love how they attract finches, hummingbirds, and butterflies to my garden. It makes me think of my angel when I see the butterflies.
  • @footprint‌ my exhaustion is still terrible and veggies are only good if I cook them so that's a start!!

    EDD/Week/Fruit 9w3d olive I think?

Worries (rational or irrational) having my momentary freak outs. I won't calm down a little until after my 12 week appt

Appointments scheduled September 12 is my 12 week appt

Upcoming milestones/Loss dates trucking along to get to 2nd tri,

QoTW: (Stolen from another check-in) What is your favorite flower and why? Lillies they are just so beautiful to me and smell wonderful and that's the flower my hubby likes to surprise me with (I don't really like getting flowers that often)
  • @racegurl87 How is your round ligament pain? Have you found anything that makes it feel better? It still comes and goes. I haven't found anything to help, but am definitely open for suggestions. I've also been feeling somewhat crappy the past few days.... lots more nausea and smell aversions. Oh, and I now have either heartburn or acid reflux....

    EDD/Week/Fruit 3/1/15, 12w, a plum

Worries (rational or irrational) Part of me is worried about LO's growth since it's been so long since my last appt and I still have another 3 weeks before my next one. I have to keep repeating PGAL mantras to keep myself sane.

Appointments scheduled 15w appt on Sept. 8th

Upcoming milestones/Loss dates My loss date is 11/7, so not too terribly soon

QoTW: (Stolen from another check-in) What is your favorite flower and why? I love orange roses, they're unique and were the basis for my wedding flowers. Unfortunately, when H decides to surprise me and bring flowers home they always seem to make my allergies flare up and I can't breathe until they're out of the house.... and taking allergy meds doesn't really help.

STUCK IN THE BOX Sorry about your round ligament pain, that sounds bad, but hopefully as your pregnancy progresses, it will taper off.  I am sorry about the heart burn too. I have that a lot lately.  Seems as if my nausea has been replaced by heart burn.  It is unpleasant. I really like the Tums Smoothies in fruit flavors, but i need three or four of these at a time.

The nt scan did help a lot though! Appointments scheduled- next checkup 9/11 then the anatomy scan 10/2! This is my last week in first tri :) Upcoming milestones/Loss dates- pretty much past all my milestones QoTW: (Stolen from another check-in) What is your favorite flower and why? Favorite flower is a lily but I also love yellow roses :)
Yay for last week of first tri! IT is exciting, isn't it? I like lilies a lot, too, but i noticed that i cannot stand the smell of them when I am pregnant. They smell like sausage.

Hi Ladies!

You know you want a picture:
    image

    Good luck to everyone!!!
I am so sorry about the bleeding over the weekend. I am really happy that your u/s looked so good yesterday. Less than a week until your next u/s! I hope time flies for you. Columbines are awesome. So pretty looking but actually a pretty badass flower.

  • Hi ladies. My appointment will be scheduled once we get the beta results (hopefully today)

    EDD/Week/Fruit
    4/19/15  5w2d  appleseed

Worries (rational or irrational) That my betas will be bad. I had a dream last night it was 45.

Appointments scheduled  None yet. Once I get my betas back, we'll schedule an early u/s. I'm hoping it will be for next week.

Upcoming milestones/Loss dates  None, not until baby is born alive at 37 weeks. I will feel somewhat better once we see a HB.

QoTW: (Stolen from another check-in) What is your favorite flower and why?  hmm. Pink roses because they remind me of my daughter.

Any word on your betas? Pregnancy nightmares are the worst! For me, they somehow seem so much more real. Fx for great betas and that you are able to get in for your u/s next week.

  • I'm jumping in this week. Thanks @footprint, for running this check-in.

    EDD/Week/Fruit
    April 18 / Week 5 / Appleseed

    Worries (rational or irrational)
Not feeling morning sickness yet, although I remember it came on around 6-7 weeks last time. I am just scared all of the time that this is not going to work.

    Appointments scheduled
I have an ultrasound next Monday - I'll be 6 weeks, 2 days. Praying we can see the heartbeat.

    Upcoming milestones/Loss dates
Seeing the heartbeat would be a milestone. I've only seen a heartbeat in one of my lost pregnancies.

QoTW: (Stolen from another check-in) What is your favorite flower and why?
I love hydrangeas. They remind me of the beach.

Best of luck with your u/s on Monday! Fx that you see a fantastic heartbeat. Make sure to post on Monday about your appointment.
That's weird, I've never thought of hydrangeas and beaches together, but now that you mention it, they do seem to go together.

  • EDD/Week/Fruit - April 1, 7w6d, blueberry

I understand, and I think all of the women on here understand, worrying that the baby has stopped growing. I was walking around and I would suddenly grab my boobs to make sure that they still hurt. I'm positive that I have don a tit grab more than once in public :/.  Fx crossed that your u/s is great on Friday. I am glad that your sister is able to go with you. Let us know how your appointment goes.

I don't think I have ever see a plumeria in real life. I wear the Bath and Body works plumeria body spray, but i don't think i know what the actualy flower looks like.

@footprint, thank you for the check in!

I'm so glad that your pain is going away! I'm glad that your doctor is willing to reassure you and give you a quick u/s!!! That is great and must be such a relief for a PgALer! I'm happy you got to see your gummy bear dancing away :).  It also must be nice to have a quiet check-in - means your worry is in check and that's great!

    EDD/Week/Fruit: 4/20/2015 (or so), around 5.5 weeks
Worries (rational or irrational): I am pretty nervous this time about birth defects. I have to stay on a medication that has some risk and DS2 was born with an enlarged kidney so I already had a higher chance of having a baby with issues. I will probably do all of the genetic testing so we are prepared just in case.
Appointments scheduled: I have my first appointment and dating ultrasound on September 3rd! I have an appointment with my therapist on the same day because I know its going to be a very stressful day. I am excited to actually have a due date!
Upcoming milestones/Loss dates: I passed my last loss milestone over the week-end! It was rough getting to that day but I feel a little better now that I am past it.

I'm totally with you about doing stuff right the first time! I cut a lot of corners when I was younger (and poorer) but it just leads to more problems later on. I'm all about doing it right the first time now. That makes me feel really mature (old).

You school starts late! My sister is a HS teacher and she started last week! I hope that your stress isn't too high as you approach your a/s date. I'm glad that your doctor is letting you do it a little early.

I like cone flowers too. This year, my butterfly bush took off and attracted so many butterflies, I was really impressed!

Thanks for the checkin @footprint !  (((Hugs))) ladies!
Petey's EDD last Friday actually ended up being a good day. It was difficult and emotional but also peaceful in a way.  That day I wrote him a letter, went to a butterfly sanctuary, and flew a butterfly kite "with" him.  It was nice and I feel a bit of a sense of peace and closure (a little).  I wrote all about it on my blog if anyone is interested: https://diaryofalittlechicken.blogspot.com/2014/08/milestone-passed.html

    @wendyld I am so sorry.
@shandorfml2 good luck with your betas!

    EDD/Week/Fruit: April 17 / 5w4d / appleseed

Worries (rational or irrational): Just the normal PgAL brain - I am worried I am going to M/C. I've had some light spotting the past few days - more brown than red so I know that's normal but it's still hard and scary.  I am also irrationally worried that I'm carrying twins. I have a very bad back and don't think I could handle that. My betas were high but not crazy high so there's really no reason to be worried.

Appointments scheduled: Impatiently waiting for my first U/S with my RE next Tues 8/26.  If all looks good I'll be released to my OB.

Upcoming milestones/Loss dates:  I am happy to be past Petey's EDD. It felt like a phase of my grief has ended and I'm feeling a little more okay looking towards the future and focusing on this baby now.

QoTW: I don't have a favorite flower!  I love yall flowers.
It sounds like Petey's EDD was a lovely day. I'm glad that you are able to look to the future more so now. I am sorry that you are experiencing spotting. I know that spotting is terrifying to PgAL brain.

I am sorry that you are exhausted. It really sucks, doesn't it? I'm glad that you are only having momentary freak-outs, instead of full on around the clock freak outs!

  • @footprint I've been drinking a glass of milk when I feel the heartburn and that seems to be helping me. It mainly happens at night while I'm trying to sleep.
Oh that's a good idea. I'm not much of a milk person though. When I was pregnant with my son, every night when I laid down to sleep, he would get the hiccups. It was cute the first few nights, but as the weeks pregrossed and the hiccups continued, it got old.

@footprint I did the boobgrab just a little bit ago walking back from the bathroom lmao!!!

Here's a plumeria - they come in pinks too - soo pretty!!

  • Thanks for the check in! U/s went great! Got to see and HEAR the heartbeat! (Never got to hear the first one) She told me (on friday) i was 6w 5d.  I went in to see my doc today (she isn't in on fridays) and got to see it again (she wanted to see it lol, and has a student learning to do the portable internal u/s)  She told me since we lost the first at 8w, she wants me to come in next week and the next, for my piece of mind and to give her student more practice! lol I'm cool with that! She also said I can call and come in and she her PA, NP, or student and have them let me look with the portable machine anytime I want. If I feel nervous or scared irrational or rational fear to just come in. She said she'd rather me come in and get piece of mind then at home stressing. I love this OB. =)
