BLW

For those who have done or plan on doing BLW, what are your favorite foods to start with?

We've done carrots and she tried sweet potato fries. We tried avocado but its hard for her to grip onto because of the slimy texture. I'm thinking she'll have the same trouble with banana and other naturally soft foods. What are good foods that are easier for babies to grip?

Re: BLW

  • I've (googled) read that you can make Cheerio dust to coat slimy foods that will help babies pinch them easier. There was other "dust" options but I don't remember.

  • It was most likely baked sweet potato fries.
With avocado I did bigger wedges and it wasn't a problem
Bananas I always held off on as a first food, with my kids they could never chew the banana enough and would just gag on it.

  • @Jt7dreamz‌ - they were homemade baked sweet potato fries. No seasoning or anything. Making them "fry" shaped helped her hold into them.

@Kacie‌ - thanks. Ill look into that

  • You can dust them or leave a little bit of the avocado skin on the base of the avocado slice to act as sort of a handle.
