Newbie to CD and a ?

Hello.  I've been lurking for awhile and I haven't seen the answer to this.  I'm sorry if it's silly but CD is new to me.  We are in the process of getting ready to adopt and I'm trying to build a stash.  I make my own laundry detergent.  Equal parts, Zote, borax, Baking Soda, Washing Soda and Oxyclean.  Is this safe to use with CD?  We have pockets with microfiber inserts and some bamboo doublers.  I don't want to prewash and ruin anything, so I'm hoping you wise women can offer some advice.

No. the Zote is not clean rinsing, it will build up on your diapers and could cause repelling. 

I use the same recipe, just without the zote. I have recently started using soap nuts in place of the zote though. 

I can't fully speak to its effectiveness though, as I alternate washes with Tide.

Take out the zote and your good. But I found that toddler pee is a little strong for the homemade stuff alone so I add equal parts of Tide to the mix and it helps.
