Baby Name Debate...help!

We are so excited we are expecting a boy in January after years of trying and fertility treatments.

So the fun debate is now on for boys names..we always said if its a boy it would be a Jr. but....I like it but don't love it. My pick is Logan, my husband does love it too but I really think he wants a junior.

Do I suck it up and go with the junior as it could be his only chance or try to get Logan to win out?

Anyone have a similiar situation? Suggestions are welcome

  • I personally would never have a junior.  Give the kid his own name.  Use your husbands name as a middle as a compromise.

  • Ordinarily I am on the side of moms who would prefer not to name a son after his dad, but that's because it often seems it was never previously agreed upon and the dad decides after conceiving to pressure the mom into a junior.  If you were on board with a junior before, then I think it's harder to back out, but on the other hand everything is negotiable.  The best solution is to find a name you both love. I'm not wild about Logan, but if you both love it, then that sounds perfect, and maybe you can use your DH's name as a MN, or another family name.

  • I'm not a fan of juniors. You both are allowed to change your mind when it comes to a previously agreed upon name. You have to find a name that you both love, so that could mean no Jr. and no Logan.

  • I don't care for Jrs either.  I think it's important for everyone to have their own name.  It also creates very unnecessary confusion.  My parent's best friend's have a JR and at 38 he is still referred to as "little jerry" because you have to be clear which you are talking about.

Also, you should both be on board with the name even if it's not anyone's top choice.
