Extended BFing Question

I just left dd for the longest time since she was born. She just made 18 months yesterday! I dropped her off yesterday afternoon at 5 and headed for an overnight MOPS leader retreat. It was such a fun night getting away from the kids and connecting with Godly women. I did have to pump at noon because I was getting a little uncomfortable. At that point she had missed 3 nursing sessions. Anyway, the in-laws dropped her off to me at 4. She was nursing by 4:30. She nurse to sleep tonight. It just didn't seem like she got much at either session. Is it normal to have a little supply dip when you've been away? Shoud it pick back up or have I messed up my supply? I know moms leave their babies all the time and don't have any issues.

Re: Extended BFing Question

  • I went almost a whole day without nursing when my 2nd was about 14 months old.  He was on a nursing strike, and I kept thinking he'd nurse again soon, so I didn't pump.  My supply was fine once he started nursing again.

  • Thanks ladies. You all made me feel better. I think by tomorrow it should be back to normal.
