Ohai, I had a baby.

Sooo I have been failing at posting, but I think I'm the last to know that a newborn will do that to ya. This won't be fun or full of gifs because I'm using my ipad while nursing and have a bunch of in laws coming over in an hour.

My induction was delayed a day, to August 7, because of overcrowding in L&D. Apparently there were a LOT of people humping in October/early November.

We got in around 8:30, and I was hooked up to the IVs and pitocin by midnight. They abandoned the plan of the cervix ripening because I was already contracting too much... But not regularly. Of course I hurled all of the contents of my stomach (FYI: chicken sausage vom smells horrible, never eating it again) which signaled the end of food for me until homeslice made his entry into the world. They kept the pitocin on a very slow drip and increased it every few hours because apparently I'm very sensitive to it.

I went into active labor in huge morning and walked/breathed as long as I could until the midwife on call for my practice said alright, it's been 13 hours, time to get the show on the road, and broke my water. That sent me into transition, woohoo! I took the epidural at 6cm, and went into push phase around 11pm. Pushing was actually fun, all of the amazing nurses I'd seen over my stay came in to cheer me in and we were hanging out talking about movies and Pinterest between pushes. I didn't even punch or curse anyone out, it was pretty peaceful and I was super focused. Oh, except until it felt like my clit was about to explode, that I motherfucked a few times. No vaganus for me, YAY! Surprisingly, that was a new term for my team of amazing ladies.

Alexander Arthur was born on 8/9 at 1:49am, 7lb 6oz and 21.5 inches of adorable. He had some trouble adjusting to the world and had issues breathing at first, but they gave him a hit of oxygen and he was fine shortly after. Adjustment for DH and I has been easier than expected (thank god)

I don't know how to PIP on my ipad, but links:
