How is your relationship with your MIL?

My MIL is super sweet and we get along really well.  She has 3 daughters and 8 DILs, plus we live 6 hours from each other so it's not like we are close.

She is a wonderful person but totally oversteps her boundaries sometimes. We live in a side by side and when her washing machine broke she just started using ours. She would take our laundry out and fold it no matter how quick I was. I hated it at first but now I love it haha. With that being said my complaints are minor and she's a great help with providing daycare for our kids and teaching them good things. I wish we did have a little more distance though.

My mil and DH have a very strained relationship. She walked out on him when he was 5 years old. He still hasn't fully forgiven her and is very distant. She started communicating with me last November and made it clear how much she really wanted to be involved in our lo's life. DH automatically wondered what the ulterior motive was. Turns out that since LO was born, she's been great with her. She keeps her anytime we ask, even if it's last minute. She is very good with her as well. We just don't really talk much unless it's about dd. She's kinda airheaded but seems nice enough to me. I kinda feel like she's trying to make up for being an absentee mom by being an involved grandmother

I used to think my mil was lovely, then we started planning planning our wedding ( feb 2015 ) the interfering started, then ds2 was born and mil and FIL have became even worse and are obsessed with ds2 and are still interfering with my wedding plans! I think I hate them [-X

I'm a grudge holder. I'm still pissed about things that happened a year ago, so I tend to get easily annoyed with her however she has been redeeming herself. With that being said, I act polite. I would never blatantly be a bitch or even act upset towards her because let's face it... She's the mother of my husband and he's a big mamas boy. It would just cause too many issues.

Wear the beige and shut up I love it! I discussed eloping before we booked our wedding, my partner was against it, now we've paid all deposits and have total figures and costings he thinks my eloping idea is great! Too late now !

My MIL is tolerable at times but then does stuff that drives me nuts. Today was her first day watching the baby and she sent me a picture of my 8 yr old niece holding the baby and the baby is clearly squirming, unhappy,and crying. Then she sends a picture of the baby laying on the ground... no blanket under her. WTF lady. Both are terrible choices and you thought those would be good pictures to send me?? I almost left work to go save my kid.

I must've hit the lottery jackpot when I got married. My MIL is amazeballs!!! I'm as close, if not closer, to her than my own mom (and my mom and I are close). she does everything she can to help us and the family, calls to say hi, invites us over, waits on everyone hand and foot, and is wonderful with LO. I love her to death. My only fear is that now she has an empty nest (both SIL's moved away this week) she might get lonely and visit a bit toooo much. but she is so great I can't even be mad....
