I think we have three top names at the moment. At least I do ha, while DH has one favorite that I'm not loving so much. But we did both come up with 7 top names overall so vote for your favorite! Middle name will be either Anne or Rose (depending on the final choice) and last name is a single syllable.

Re: favorite girl name?

  • Daphne Anne would be my choice. Nicole, Amy, Haley and Megan are dated IMO. Lily and Sophia are too popular. Good luck deciding!

  • Daphne is wonderful. I also really like Sophie. Out of curiosity, what is your DH's number one name?

  • @FakeFinn The least popular one haha. I don't know what it is about it that he loves so much. I would prefer Nikki instead!

I only like Daphne as a first name, the rest are just so plain and common, although I do like Sophie as well it's just popular. I feel like I should defend Nicole as it is my middle name, but I can't haha I like it as a middle name only. Daphne Rose is my favourite....Megan is my least favourite!!!
  • Lily Anne
But I really don't care for any

  • @aditigirl Interesting point of view actually. I like the idea of a name that is suitable for her at all age! One of the names was from a show that I loved as a teen haha =X

  • Daphne Rose!

  • I don't like Daphne. It always makes me think "daffy" (and my friend Daphne got called Daffy quite a bit) and the sound of it just is unappealing to me.
I love Lily and Sophie, though they are definitely extremely popular. They are my favorite names on your list though.

  • @macchiatto Was your friend called Daffy like the duck or just because it was just similar sounding? I would love to know if it bothered your friend to be called that or not. I had expressed the same concern to my DH and he thinks that her generation will have no idea who Daffy the Duck is and that it won't be an issue.

I voted for Daphne but since the Daffy connection has been mentioned, I wanted to mention it also means Silly.

    I still like Daphne though.

As in silly and also as in Daffy the Duck. She would roll her eyes when people said it.

I personally think it's smart to pay attention to associations older generations have about names as well as peers. I was teased more about my own name by adults (especially men/uncle-types who think they're funny) than by kids. The associations for my own name weren't that bad but it made me aware that adults can be more annoying teasers than kids sometimes. ;)

  • @macchiatto You have a good point there, especially since I can already imagine some of our family members calling her Daffy. We agreed that we will ask them to respect our wishes to not call her that. We have a nephew that we've call Bubba since he was a baby and haven't been able tot stop calling him that even though he's about to enter middle school, while his peers call him by his real name. Poor kid. =)
