I'm 32 weeks today, and I became a mom today!
After a blood pressure spike, they noticed my liver enzymes were way elevated (as were my white blood platelets), so they told me it was time to have these babies! Turns out, despite having awesome blood pressure for the past forever, I had "severe preeclampsia." Good thing I was already in the hospital on bedrest and they were checking all this stuff. Who knows what could have happened otherwise??
Baby boy weighed 4lbs 1oz, 17 inches long.
Baby girl weighed 3lbs 5oz. 16 inches long.
Both have full heads of dark wavy hair!!! So much hair!!
I'm back on magnesium for 24 hours so I won't be able to see them until tomorrow. I haven't touched them yet, and they said we might not be able to hold them for a week.. Which makes me sad, but I don't want to overstimulate them either. The babies are doing well- no ventilators and they're doing well on breathing. Both scored an 8 on their apgar test.
The pain from the c section is pretty rough so far, but I'm hanging in there and asking for meds as needed. Right now they're bringing me a pump so I can get started on that! In the meantime, the NICU is giving both babies donor breast milk- so glad that's available here!
Despite all of this, I am sooo thankful to finally be a mom. I love these little ones so much!!
