Baby Names

What names would your children pick?

At breakfast DS1 told me that he thinks we need to have 7 children in our family (that's up from his previous wish for 5.)  @-)

He wants 3 girls and 4 boys, so I need to have two more of each and he wants to name them Mary, Katarina, George and Sid(ney.) At least he has good taste?

Does anyone else's child talk about names for little brothers and sisters?

  • DD (3.5) wants another boy and girl and to name them Jake and Izzy after Jake and the Neverland Pirates.
  • DS said Stephen (his mn), DD said Alizia (ah-Lizzy-ah), she names ever everything that, no clue how you would spell it.

  • Dora, Boots, Big Red Chicken, Minnie, Eeyore, and Daniel Tiger.

  • For awhile, whenever we would ask her, she would say she wanted to name the baby Bridget (her name). Then, we we shot that one down, she started naming people she knew.

  • Since my dd only know about 5 words she would name the new baby Kitty since she loves cats lmao
  • Troy wanted Griffin to be babyhulksmash or Tony (as in iron man)
we told him if he had a sister she might be Toni but we got another boy .

My 5 year old brother wanted Griffin to be McKenna because that's his next door neighbors granddaughter 's name
Supermom to my beautiful boys Troy Marshall and Griffin Xander

  • My nephew wanted to name his then-unborn brother Pancake ;)

DD rarely names things, I'd be surprised if she was stuck on a particular name for a sibling

I am cracking up at pancake. Although, I think that would be a precious name for a dog! :)

  • My older sister wanted to name me Jennifer. I think she was actually really upset that they didn't. My parents had no idea why she was so stuck on that name. Haha.

He does call her that on occasion. It's cute.

  • My step daughter wants Rowan for a girl, it's NMS, but at least she has good taste!
  • When my older dd was born, my boys were 8 and under and thought Princess Leia was just a perfect name lol.

Now that all my kids are much older (21-11) they ALL have opinions and suggestions and I have had to say, I get to name MY baby and you get to name your future babies!!! Although I thought the 16 yo ds' suggestion was hilarious- Grand Finale   : )
  • My niece was really sure her parents should name her sibling Pinkie if it was a girl or Frank for a boy. They went with Hope.

Now she's thinking I should name my baby on the way Princess.

  • DS thinks we should named this baby Lucy or Michael. When asked where he got those names he shrugs. Not terrible but NMS.

  • I asked my 2.5 year old niece a couple days ago what my baby girl's name should be and she said Kathy. No clue where that came from..my sister doesn't know either.
  • The user and all related content has been deleted.
  • DS #1 chose Henry for DS #2. It's a good name but I think he was hoping for the train and not a person (big Thomas the Train fan).

  • Simon. My favorite, that H shot down. H thinks I'm coaching LO, but I'm not! He just loves the name, haha.

He's currently not acknowledging the possibility that it might be a girl.

  • DD1 actually did name DD2.  For whatever reason, she started calling my bump "Mimi." She was only 17 months at the time and it was one of the few things she said clearly. So DH and I started referring to the new one as "Mimi." Then we decided to reverse-engineer her name and try to pick a name that could be nicknamed into "Mimi." I really liked Naomi for a while, but DH ended up selling me on Margaret b/c it's also a family name. I still don't actually really like Margaret or Mimi and have been trying to call DD2 just about anything in the world but "Mimi," but it is freaking impossible. She's Mimi.
  • My niece said I should name DD Aurora Belle Snow White Lastname. With the NN of Isabella.

I'm not new. I just hate The Bump.

  • DS just turned 3 and we have told him he will be a big brother. He keeps saying he wants a sister and that her name will be Charlotte. I think he has good taste! He doesn't even know a Charlotte not had he seen 'Charlotte's Web'....his name is Declan and I think it works!

  • Not siblings, but DD got a doll recently and names her Tokyo! It's a good thing she won't be naming any children anytime soon.

  • I asked DD (6) what we should name this baby.  She suggested Jasper for a boy and Amber for a girl.  She likes gemstone names, I guess?  Then she suggested James and Julia for boy/girl twins (no, I'm not having twins unless one's very good at hiding).  I don't like matchy names and Julia is too close to my name, but they're good names on their own.

When I was pregnant with DS she suggested Elmo and Abby Cadabby.  Big Sesame Street phase then.  I actually like Abigail a lot.

DH was instrumental in naming two of his brothers (he's the oldest of eight kids), Zachary and Quintin.

  • My son wanted to name our new baby Haumea ( hue-may-a) if its a girl, I guess it's a dwarf planet (???). I thought it was cute...
  • DS1 wants to name this baby girl Addison.  It's the name of the little girl he went to preschool with, who goes to our church and now lives across the street from us.  He loves playing with her so I guess he's decided he needs his own Addison. :)
