How long did it take?

To transition baby to crib and have them back to their normal sleeping pattern? We tried to have LO sleep in his crib last night and it didn't go well. He has been in a RNP since birth (regretting it now). He was up every 2 hours and it took twice as long to put him down. He is also going through a leap and has been much more fussy than normal. I'm going back to work tonight and really need more sleep. How long did it take? Hopefully he will just do this for a few nights. I'm not sure if this is due to the leap or crib. The last week he wasn't sleeping as long either in the RNP and only wanted to nap on me. He is 13 weeks and I hope my bad habits aren't sticking with him!

We started her off in her crib since we came home from the hospital.

What kimbus said. Some kids just naturally take longer in adjusting.

I really don't know what an rnp is. But based on photos it's like on an incline with a liner hugging the body? That's very different demo a crib.

DD slept in a bassinet for the first 8wks and then one night we just put her in her crib and that was that. She started STTN right away. She had always napped in her crib during the day so maybe that made the transition easier.

We had LO in his RNP for the first month and then he slept in it again when we went on an 8 day vacation and he was 8-9 weeks old. I was worried we would have a lot of trouble both times. I think the easiest way to transition is to just do chunks of time rather than the whole night. So for us, LO may start out in the RNP at 8:30 when he initially goes to sleep...then he normally wakes up once sometime between 3-4, and I would put him in his crib until he woke up for the day. Maybe this would work? Or if nothing else, get them napping in the crib so they are used to it and start trying for night time.

We tried napping in the crib about 2 weeks ago. It consisted of me going upstairs 1000 times to put the binky back in or soothe him. Then we went on vacation and I figured we would figure it out when we got back. I also waited to transition because I knew we could only take the RNP on vacation so I figured I'd wait. Next baby is sleeping flat from the beginning!! I work night shift all weekend so I told DH to keep the crib going and only put him in the RNP if it goes really poorly. I kind of feel bad since I won't be there to suffer through this, but I've been the one waking up to BF for 13 weeks so it's his turn!

It took about a week of him taking at least 1 nap in the crib followed by 3 crappy nights of regression. In short it sucked, good luck you'll get through it!

It could just be the leap too. DS has been in the crib since 4 weeks. He is 3 months today and the last few nights he has been up every 2 hours. I think it's the leap. Just a few days left in this one...

I started at 2 months. She's 3 months now and it's starting to take less time to put her down and the last couple nights she's gone back in it after waking to eat which is usually rare or never. She's starting to like to spread out. She is so random on sleep still but always has been even in rnp.

Oh I also did chunks of time too so I would get her compleatly asleep for bedtime and lay her down (didn't always work the first couple times) then in the middle of the night she has a hard time going back in it so I put her in the rnp but just this week she seems to prefer the crib. So she goes back in there.

Woombie with built in bumpers do he can't roll! He slept for 8.5 h straight thank goodness! But took a week to get there. As of now when he wakes up I feed him and out him in the rnp but will soon be just putting him back in the crib. Didn't want to do too much change. Started with naps in crib so he's used to it and playing in there too during the day!

There's really no way to predict it.  Some kids will transition fine in a day or two. It'll be weeks or months for others.  It's all made worse by growth spurts, teething, change in routine etc.

    This. 10,000x this.

Just when you think you've figured out their sleep patterns, they'll up and change them on you.

DD was in a rnp for 2 months. It took only 1 night and then she was sleeping normally in her crib. She is still swaddled too.
