Bummed and upset

I hope you ladies do not mind me venting about my current pregnancy, I have not ventured on to my new board yet and you are such a great support system. I am 22 weeks pregnant and a co worker of mine who is exactly the same told me she has only gained 6 pounds. That is awesome for her, but makes me feel like shit. I have been trying so hard to eat healthy, but whenever I eat a fruit or vegetable it goes right through me and gives me serious stomach problems. I was super sick my first tri and could only live on saltines and carbs. I am not trying to make excuses, but I am super disappointed in myself and am so upset about this. It also does not help that my emotions have been all over the place today. Any tips or suggestions on what I can do to maybe hault the weight gain and still be healthy for my baby? I want nothing more than a giant salad or bowl full of fruit, but every time I try my stomach does crazy things and I end up in the bathroom for the rest of the day, sorry tmi. Thanks for listening/reading ladies!

  • If you are eating well and not piles of junk then give yourself a break.  My good friend ate evrything but the kitchen sink her first pregnancy and didn't work out at all and gained 50 pounds.  She had a big baby and lost it all by getting into kettlebells.  She became a workout instructor and during her second pregnancy she ate super clean and worked out until the day she delivered.  And guess what?  She gained 50 pounds.  Again had a big baby.  Her body was just doing what it needed to make a child.  her third?  Moderation. :P Moral of the story?  Don't stress out and all will work itself out. :)

  • I am also 22w, i didn't gain any weight until 18w but holy cow look out. I have gained 15lbs since then. I now have that overwhelming need to eat all the time, which I didn't get last time until the end. It's hard when your stomach doesn't cooperate. Hope you feel better!

  • I am 24 weeks and someone asked me yesterday when I was done work....I said November and she didn't know what to say.lol! I gained 50 with DS and will likely gain at least that this time. This time I'm not focused on healthy eating as much as I should. I belong to the keeping 3 humans, 1 pet and a happy husband alive club and well each day is a win. Hang in there!

  • I second what all the PP said!! Don't be so hard on yourself, all women are different shapes and sizes especially during pregnancy! As long as you feel like you are making smart choices, then just try and look past what you "feel" you look like. I bet your husband and daughter love you regardless if you "feel" overweight. You're cooking a baby, it's a special time....enjoy it! (((hugs)))

You're pregnant and have a toddler! Consider everyday that you wake up and get yourself showered a win. It doesn't sound like you're loading up on cookies and chips, so give yourself a break. You're keeping 3 humans alive...amazing!

This. You're growing a little person- eat!

  • I gained 70 lbs, and I tried to eat healthy. It's just what my body did. I think everyone is different. I've lost all but maybe 5 or 10 lbs with little effort. Try not to freak out! I don't think how much you gain necessarily means that much for after pregnancy.

  • I can't eat a lot of raw foods for exactly the same reasons you say (stomach ache, loose stools).  Have you tried cooking your veggies?  Fruit also seems to just raise my blood sugar, so if I have fruit I need to have some fat too.  Such as an apple with cheddar cheese or strawberries and avocado.
