Sad and Sadder

I've got two new names for you today!

Sad: Yesterday I was looking at a local meetup group and some woman was introducing herself and her son - Alarm.

Sadder: Just found out through the family rumor mill my cousin is naming her son Felix. Why is that sadder you ask? Well Felix is an awesome name, and apparently my grandmother, mother, and aunt (her mother) have all told her it's horrible. What is wrong with people? Felix is far from horrible.

Only thing re. Felix that I can think of is that Felix in the Bible was a cruel and evil man. I personally really like the sound and meaning of it but can see why some might not like it based on the biblical association.

Alarm is... Alarmingly bad:P

I like Felix because it means "happy." I have a major issue with Tristan because it means "sad." Why would you name your son "sad?"

We're Jewish, so I had to look up Felix from "the bible" because he's new testament. So that can't be why my family dislikes it.

What's funny is that on behind the name it states that "Due to its favourable meaning, this name was popular among early Christians, being borne by many early saints and four popes." So I'm guessing that the biblical association can't be too bad if popes are choosing to use it.
