Lost Mucous Plug??? TMI - UPDATE

So DH and I have had regular sex throughout this pregnancy with no problems. Last night it was a little different. After our session I used the bathroom and noticed some blood and mucousy looking substance. I waited until this morning to call my doctor and it is taking forever for him to call me back. After I called the doctor I realized that DH didn't withdraw last night and it could have been sperm mixed with blood (I know TMI... I feel like I'm exposing my soul with this post). Baby is a little more active today than normal and I am 31weeks and 5 days. Anyone else have any experience with this?

So not the news I was hoping for but the doctors are positive. I was admitted to the hospital on Friday and told that they would give me some steroid shots to mature LO's lungs just in case. On Friday I was told that I would be allowed to go home on Sunday. This morning the doctor decided that due to LO's significant drop in heart rate throughout the night he would be keeping me for the next 4 weeks. He wants to avoid doing an emergency C-section and the only way to do that is by having me on a monitor 24/7. I am so grateful that I called the doctor when I did, I'm notorious for just shrugging things off. I can not express more ladies if you feel like something is wrong CALL! The Bump is great for support, but make sure you call. Thanks you to all of you who have kept me in your T & P's. I will keep you updated!

Are you having any contractions? No experience but did you leave a message with a nurse or on a machine? Did you say you were bleeding? If it was a machine, I might call L&D and get advice there.

Also, have you read other threads? This language is pretty typical around here - no embarrassment needed.

Mucus plugs regenerate a lot also. I'd still call the Ob though just to be safe

I experienced some bleeding after sex with my first (I was 30ish weeks). I called the oncall MW and she said that it sounded like my cervix was a little irritated and gave me the list of things to watch for that would signal something more serious (soaking a pad per hour, water breaking, contractions, etc). I agree that calling your doctor is a good idea just in case s/he wants to see you, etc.

I spoke a nurse who delivered the message to a doctor and now I just have to wait on a call back. I'm going to sound like such an idiot, but even though I am a STM I have no idea what contractions or labour pains feel like. I never had them with my first. I've had a very achy lower back for the pass couple of weeks but I associated that with the extra weight I'm carrying.

I had some blood tinged discharge after sex with DS1. Haven't this time around yet though. But yes, the plug can lose pieces and regenerate throughout. As long as you aren't bleeding or cramping, I would assume it's just semen and discharge.

I find I'm a lot more mucous-y after sex, especially if he doesn't pull out and I don't quite get it all squeezed out (how's that for TMI?).

But, as @Justbean3 mentioned, your MP will regenerate still at this stage, so even it if was that, it doesn't necessarily mean that labour is impending.

I lost my mucus plug two weeks ago they said it will grow back. Also they say with things are inserted into your vagina when your futher along it can mean it was irritated. Don't stress. If dr doesn't call back it won't hurt to just get checked out.

So I don't know how to update my original post... but my doctor sent me to the hospital to be monitored. I'm 3 cm dilated and they're starting me on steroids to mature baby's lungs. Thoughts and prayers are greatly appreciated. Thanks.
