My husband and I have VERY different taste and often disagree on things. But we have (Finally) agreed on a first name for our soon-to-arrive second son: Rockford, Rocky for short. We have a one-syllable, very common last name.
For the middle name, I prefer Alden (husband's middle name). I like the cadence, I like the two syllables, I like how it sounds.
He likes Lee (his father's middle name), which gives the baby the same initials as husband's dad, and is a bit of a nod to Virginia, where husband grew up.
We now live in the north (where I am from). For clarification purposes, his dad is still very much alive, so it's not like a tribute to someone who has passed... I think Rockford Lee sounds a little too country, a little too redneck for our family. He doesn't love Alden, and it's not REALLY a tribute to his side of the family, since it was sort of an arbitrary middle name choice for him. Whereas Lee has a direct family connection. My first son's middle name is very much a family tribute to my side, and it was our agreement that baby number two would have a family tribute for his side.
So. Whaddya think: Rockford Alden or Rockford Lee?
Re: Middle Name?
Or use both...Rockford Alden Lee
