So I noticed in the check in that you had pre-e last pregnancy. I ended up with high blood pressure right near the end, but no protein in my urine. But that makes me more likely to potentially develop problems this pregnancy. My midwives have me taking one baby aspirin before bed. What is your OB doing? Any advice to pass on? I was told to eat healthy, try to keep my stress down and take baby aspirin. But I'm a little bit worried the same thing will happen this time. I thought maybe you would understand.

Your story sounds a lot like mine, my high blood pressure came on at 39 weeks, that's why we induced Hannah. I normally have normal to high side of normal blood pressure. I was admitted with systolic number above 200. They were freaking out, I had no idea how dangerous my numbers were until after the fact (think stroke, seizure range ) I also had severe heartburn (or what I thought was heartburn) and wicked headaches. So now, every time I get heartburn and a headache I'm freaking out thinking it's my blood pressure I'm wondering if it's worth investing in renting or buying a decent blood pressure monitor.

Oh, and then I had postpartum hypertension for 6 weeks! That was the worst!

Sorry totally jumping in your post! Just offering some advice. I had pre-e last time and delivered early due to protein, bp was 188/90 so I was rushed in for emergency -c. With all that happening I had high bp on and off my whole second pregnancy and they didn't recommend I take anything. They just did 24 hour protein collections to make sure I wasn't developing anything this time around and I ended up not getting pre-e again. I did have protein in my urine and went to the hospital two days before my water broke this time which was 2 weeks before my due date so maybe I just shot myself in the foot with my theory of not happening again. But up to that point I had no issues like last time.

Yeah I have a large practice and each doctor told me differently. One said big chance because it was pre-e along with placenta abruption but if just pre-e at the end and no other factors it's a very small chance. The rest all said small chance. So hopefully you ladies won't have either happen.

Jumping in I have a history of HBP and so I am on medication and they monitor me pretty closely to make sure it doesn't spike during pregnancy. I am also taking baby aspirin. I didn't have any issues last pregnancy until after baby was born. I definitely recommend monitoring your pressure at home. If nothing else it will ease your mind. Some symptoms I have when BP is rising... Headaches, tired/sluggish and blurred vision.
