Baby Names

Rules on first name ending with same letter as starting letter of middle?

For instance, I know Sila Smith would be a no no.

I know Alicia Anne would be a no, but what about with constantants?

Say, Jacob Brooks H.

The b in Jacob and B in Brooks are so clearly pronounced, would something like that be against the "rules"?

The only thing that really bothers me is when the first and middle end in the same sound.  So, Alicia Anna would drive me bonkers.
I had a thick southern accent, so maybe its how I pronounce it, but they run together and sound like Alicianne

This is me too. I don't see anything wrong with any of those choices. I dislike Alicia Anna but as a middle name it doesn't really matter to me. If it was a last name, I would mind it more.

  • There are no rules. If it flows fine, go for it. Jacob Brooks sounds fine.
  • It's not so much the letter, but the pronunciation. My name ends with the same sound that my middle name starts with, and I don't like it at all. It's like Anna Alicia. Alicia Anne doesn't bother me because the A's are pronounced differently.

  • NBD. Don't worry about "rules" so much.

I broke lots of "rules" with DD's name.
  • For instance, I know Sila Smith would be a no no. See below

I know Alicia Anne would be a no, but what about with constant ants? why is that a no-no;  people rarely use their middle names

  • Alliteration is a yay for me, situation dependent. So I guess I didn't know about the rules. Jacob Brooks wouldn't even get a second thought from me.
