Feeling helpless

I swear I feel like I am going to fall apart. I have been on Zofran for my nausea since before I was even pregnant. Then I've been in the hospital twice for dehydration. Now I'm anemic and can't take the iron supplements because I've been so sick and my dr said it will make it a lot worse. With my iron being low I've had restless legs every night for weeks now and been unable to sleep a full night. When I went for my 30w appt yesterday I had to have my Rhogam shot and found out I have GD. As if my diet wasn't restricted enough as is. I have Celiac (no gluten) and I'm lactose and dairy intolerant. I hardly have time to eat and I don't eat any sweets. The sweetest thing I ever have is about 8oz of tea each day. Also, my dr said I'm measuring larger than 30w2d so I have to go for another ultrasound to make sure there is not too much fluid or some other complication. I'm working 7 days a week, every week, as an in-home CNA and I can't remember the last time I saw my ankles.

Re: Feeling helpless

  • Wow. It really sounds like you're having a rough time. ((Hugs))

We're in the home stretch! Before you know it, that little baby will be in your arms and filling your heart and it will all have been so worth it. Hang in there!

  • Almost there, hang in there. Sorry you are still suffering from nausea that sucks! Can you hold down iron rich foods? I have suffered from anemia since I was a kid. Sometimes worse than others. I recommend loading up on iron rich foods as it will help. I hope you feel better soon.
  • That sounds terrible, I'm sorry. I'm measuring large too and have an ultrasound on Friday. Hopefully everything is fine with both of us!

DH and I have been married 3+ years. This is our first PG, and we are thrilled!
Can't wait to meet our baby BOY, Mateo in October!!
  • One step at a time. Sounds like you are over whelmed and stressing. GD diagnoses is not the end of the world it just takes some careful planning. I agree with PP about eating more iron rich good that you can tolorate. Sorry that have been on Anti-nausea meds for so long. Again as PP said is there another medical reason you are on them other then pregnancy? Take a breath and do something for your self to pamper you. You are coming to the end and in no time will have LO on the outside to enjoy.

  • Oh no! This is just one thing after the other.

Try and keep your eye on the prize, your baby. And thank god for Zofran.

Hopefully in 10 weeks, this will all just be a crappy memory.

    Sorry this is hard! *hugs*

  • Take a deep breath and relax. Ask your doctor about getting referred to a nutrient specialist. They can help you with your diet. It sounds like a lot of your issues and concerns can be helped with your diet. I'm also celiac and I know it can be difficult, but getting a nice meal plan really helps me. My doctor told me to stick with meats, veggies, fruits and potatoes. Diabetes and celiac go hand and hand in many people. It doesn't matter how many sweets you eat. Are you taking prenatal vitamins?
  • Bless your heart, sounds like you're been through the wringer.  No words of wisdom, other than seconding the recommendation to see a nutritional specialist and see if pinning down a diet might make your life a little easier?

Home stretch now...may this be a bad (but fuzzy) memory in just a couple of months!
