Baby Names

Zoe or Claire?

How do you choose between two names that you love??  DH and I are both 50/50 on both of them.  They are very different styles of names and yet we still can't decide.  Wait until we see what she "looks" like?

DD1 5.26.12 - Femara, Gonal F and IUI

DD2 10.18.14 - IVF

Re: Zoe or Claire?

  • I would hold onto both names going into the hospital and see what she looks like. She may completely look like one name and the other not suit her at all!!!

For what it's worth I like Claire more than Zoe. Claire can age with her whereas Zoe has a childish ring to it and seems forever young

    Good luck!!

  • I love both of these! I vote for Zoe Claire as a first name, middle name combo. So cute.

  • I like Claire better, but if you are really torn I'd wait and see until after she's born.

  • We are in the "see what she looks like" group.  Both are lovely names.  I have a Claire, but have Zoe on our short list for DD#4!

  • I very much prefer Claire over Zoe.  Claire is a really great name IMO.  I personally feel that Zoe does not age very well.

  • I agree with taking them to the hospital. I like Zoe more than Claire because it seems a bit livelier, with a bit more personality.

  • I have a slight preference for Claire over Zoe, although both are good names.  If popularity is a concern for you, Zoe and its other spellings are more popular than Claire/Clara/etc., and there are probably regional variations as well.  I know several Zoes/Zoeys around DD's age.

  • I prefer Claire but I agree with the wait and see idea.
